Resumo Esse trabalho tem o objetivo de resgatar uma expressão matemática, atribuída a Bhaskara I (c. 600 d. C.), para se calcular o valor do seno por meio de aproximação por funções não lineares. Ainda, o texto relata algumas possíveis justificativas para tal regra, bem como, a comparação entre os valores obtidos pela função seno de Bhaskara I e os admitidos na trigonometria atual. D. 600) to calculate the value of the sine through approximation by nonlinear functions. Still, the paper reports some possible justifications for such a rule, as well as the comparison between the values obtained by the sine function of Bhaskara I and accepted in current trigonometry.
