Abstract

The Spanish novel since Transition (1975-1986) is marked by the abundance of historical novels about key periods of the 20th century. Since 1990, un new referent has appeared : the transitional process and particularly the story of its success, its myth. Memorial and political novels such as those by Juan Marse, M. Vazquez Montalban, Antonio Munoz Molina, Javier Cercas, Alfons Cervera, Martinez de Pison, Clara Sanchez, etc., question, through the figure of the investigator, the transitional development and its diverse political interpretations (continuity, rupture, pact, involution). This literature of personal and collective memory, particularly after the Ley de Memoria historica (2007), shows the memory quest is accompanied by a police, historical and judicial investigation. This relation between literature, history and politics questions the literary genre and the frontier between literature and political action.
