At the Hoover Institution, I found a space where academic freedom, debate, and discussion is not only permitted but truly encouraged. This is crucial during these times, especially in relation to the study of contemporary antisemitism. I am also thankful to Raphael Fischler, Doron Ben-Atar, Shalem Coulibaly, Jeffrey Herf, and Olufemi Vaughan. I am especially grateful to all the scholars who attended the conference. Most of them did so at their own expense and traveled considerable distances to be there. The conference, on which this series is based, was the largest academic gathering ever on the study of antisemitism. More than one hundred speakers from approximately twenty academic fields and more then twenty countries attended the event. It was truly a remarkable gathering at an important historical moment. Due to the high level of scholarship, the conference produced many key insights and has given rise to many important research projects. Finally, I would like to thank Daniel Stephens for copy-editing and reviewing the contributions for this project. Review by Malcolm F. Lowe This collection provides a needed introduction to a pressing problem. Its title could be translated as "The New Guises" or more literally as "The New Clothes of Anti-Semitism in Europe." About one-quarter of the book is an "Introduction" and the rest consists of contributions from individual authors on specific countries. Even so, it is less a comprehensive treatment than an exercise in raising awareness and promoting further involvement.

The anti-Semitism that is so widespread in the Muslim world today fi rst came to the attention of Israelis and the Diaspora thanks to Yehoshafat Harkabi's pathbreaking 1968 book, Arab Attitudes to Israel, published in both English and Hebrew. 1 He called it Arab anti-Semitism, but today in the wake of Islamist anti-Semitism, and in light of its presence in Iran and other non-Arab Islamic countries, had he been revising his book, it is likely that Harkabi would have named it Muslim Attitudes toward Israel.
