Performance Expectancy and Usage of Information Systems and Technology: Cloud Computing (PEUISTCC)

This study aimed to analyse the determinants of Cloud computing adoption and use among high school learners. The research question that followed was; which is the best predictor of Cloud computing usage given a set of determinants? The study involved 116 respondents using simple random sampling. The results revealed that performance expectancy was the strongest predictor of the intention to adopt Cloud computing when compared to other constructs. There was a strong positive correlation of r = +0.989 between 'the use of Internet for learning purposes in enhancing the effectiveness of learning' and 'being taught in their studies through Internet devices'. These findings suggest that Cloud computing adoption and application may be enhanced through educating teachers and learners on the potential benefits of this mode of communication in improving the accessibility and dissemination of scholarly content.
Factors Influenced the Cloud Computing Adoption in Teaching and Learning Process

Cloud computing plays a major role's in today's technology sector. Education sector is not out of this phenomenon. Cloud computing is transforming teaching and learning, inside and outside the classroom. This study aims to investigate the prevalence of adoption of cloud computing among Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) academicians, students and staffs. Besides, this study also was conducted to determine factors that influenced the decision of adopting cloud computing in teaching and learning. A validated administered questionnaire was transformed into Google Form to ease the data collection process. Students's t-test and Chi-Square test were used for univariate data analysis. For multivariate data analysis, multiple binary logistic regression analysis was performed. The results found that 67.1 percent of respondent adopting the cloud computing in teaching and learning process. There was a significant difference on mean scores of usage variables by adoption of cloud computing status. The adoption of cloud computing in teaching and learning status of respondents do not have a significant association with gender. Furthermore, only variable of usage was significantly influenced the adoption of cloud computing in teaching and learning. In conclusion, it is recommended to motivate the academicians, students and staffs to maximize the usage of cloud computing to ensure that the adopting of cloud computing was applied in learning and teaching process.

The effective management of knowledge is critical to achieve high academic performance, effectiveness, and efficiency. Adoption of cloud computing in education has the potential to enhance the management of knowledge. This study aims to investigate the antecedents and consequences of cloud computing adoption in education to achieve knowledge management. Thereby, this study implemented the cloud computing in an authentic learning environment to support knowledge management practices and provided participants with training and education. Pre-tests and post-tests were administered on the first and last week of the 14-week intervention. This study examined the causal relationship between the expectations for knowledge management practices and the perceived usefulness of cloud computing services. Further, the causal relationships among innovativeness, training and education, and perceived ease of use were examined in the study. Survey data collected from 221 undergraduate students were analyzed by using structural equation modeling to validate the research model. The results indicate that the perceived usefulness is significantly associated with the expectations for knowledge creation and discovery, storage, and sharing. Amongst others, the expectations for knowledge storage and sharing have a stronger relationship with the perceived usefulness. Further, innovativeness and training & education are significantly associated with the ease of use perceptions. The findings suggested that educational institutions may promote adoption of cloud computing in education by increasing the awareness of knowledge management practices.

Cloud computing technology has revolutionized the delivery of computing services to the consumers as customized services on demand making them cost effective and resource efficient. However, various challenges hinder the adoption of this technology, especially in educational institutions. This paper explores the factors that information technology (IT) leaders consider to be impeding the adoption of cloud-computing in institutions of higher learning in Kenya. A quantitative investigation using an online questionnaire was used to conduct this study in the 69 accredited universities and colleges in Kenya. The study findings were statistically analyzed to rank the level of influence of the factors that under investigation. The key factors identified as hindering the adoption of cloud computing include concerns about the reliability of Cloud Service providers and lack of skills in cloud computing. Also, there are concerns about inadequate support and training from Cloud Service providers and government policies on cloud computing, data security and confidentiality. Role based training for Cloud services users, proactive management of Cloud services and implementation of information systems governance policies are recommended to address these concerns. These recommendations have been discussed and consolidated into a framework for adoption of cloud computing that can also be applied by educational institutions in other developing countries to assist the key stakeholders in guiding their decision-making process on adoption of cloud computing. Although the study is limited to accredited universities and colleges in Kenya, it comes at a convenient time when the Kenyan government is launching e-learning in all public primary schools. There is however not much research that had been done especially on cloud computing in Kenyan educational institutions. This study, therefore, adds new insights on what needs to be considered and addressed to facilitate the adoption of cloud computing in institutions of higher education.

Cloud Computing: The Beliefs and Perceptions of Swedish School Principals

This article highlights the importance of cloud computing in education and explores the environment surrounding schools' adoption of cloud services. Based on the technology leadership literature, the study investigates the beliefs and perceptions of school principals toward cloud computing. Principals of primary and high schools in Sweden were invited to participate in an online survey and 342 responses were received. Results suggest principals of Swedish schools believe the main benefits of cloud computing to be its ability to allow users to access data and software anywhere as long as there is Internet access and its ability to facilitate sharing of learning materials and data. The biggest obstacle is the concerns about security and privacy of data. Moreover, principals of public schools perceived more obstacles than those of private schools. Results also indicate a misalignment of beliefs between the principals and other stakeholders such as the municipalities' information technology (IT) departments and lawyers. This lack of shared views is another major obstacle for cloud computing adoption. Results provide useful first-hand information to municipalities, school administrators, and teachers on the beliefs and perceptions of the principals toward this new technology.
