Causal Analysis of Company Performance and Technology Mediation in Small and Medium Enterprises During COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant changes in companies and affected the operational capacity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) around the world, pushing them further towards technology adoption and innovation. However, the extent to which the impact of use of e-commerce, technology, and digitalization on companies' sales, operations, customer satisfaction, and their overall performance during COVID-19 has not been investigated. The aim of this study is to conduct a path analysis assessment of performance and technology mediation in SMEs during the pandemic. The path analysis suggests existence of statistically significant partial mediation by the mediator variables (SMEs' digitalization, use of technology, and use of e-commerce during COVID-19) between independent variables (SMEs' operation, sales, and customer satisfaction) and the dependent variable (SMEs' performance). Operation, sales, and customer satisfaction directly affected SMEs' performance during COVID-19. There was also an acceleration in the SMEs' technology transformation during this period.

Impact of financial and internet support on SME performance: Moderating effect of technology adoption during COVID-19 pandemic

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are widely recognised as significant catalysts for economic growth at a worldwide level. The benefits that are frequently highlighted for their promotion, particularly in developing nations like Bangladesh, include their relatively high labor intensity, reliance on local technology and skills, contributions to the growth of entrepreneurialism and innovativeness, and industrial linkage expansion. The objective of this study is to examine the influence of financial and internet support on the performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Bangladesh during the COVID-19 pandemic while also considering the moderating effect of technology adoption. By going through the literature, the study identified a number of factors namely financial support, ICT support, technological support played a strong role on SME performance during COVID-19. The present study utilises Partial Least Square (PLS) path modelling, a variance-based technique within the framework of Structural Equation Modelling (SEM), to investigate the correlations. A well-structured questionnaire is prepared for collecting primary data from the SME owners or managers and finally 378 data have been collected from the different types of SME entrepreneurs through using purposive sampling technique. Eight hypotheses are tested and found seven positive relationships with moderating interaction of technology adoption between influential factors and SME performance (financial and nonfinancial).

Gender Role in Mediating Capital Relations and Information Technology Investment with SME Financial Performance During the Covid-19 Pandemic

This study aims to test the role of gender in mediating capital relations and information technology investment with the performance of SMEs during the covid-19 pandemic. SMEs are also affected by the covid-19 pandemic, so the financial performance of SMEs is disrupted. SME problems during the covid-19 pandemic are related to capital and the demands of the use of information technology so that SMEs need to invest in information technology. Besides, gender roles are very important in managing SME finances to improve their financial performance. Thus, this study incorporates gender to mediate the gap between capital and information technology investment and the financial performance of SMEs. The samples in this study are SMEs in Rembang Regency. Sampling techniques using cluster sampling and obtained samples as many as 142 SMEs. The results showed that capital has a positive effect insignificant on the financial performance of SMEs, while information technology investment has a significant positive effect on the financial performance of SMEs. This study proves that gender can mediate the relationship between capital and information technology investment with the performance of SMEs during the covid-19 pandemic.

Does Technology Improve SMEs Business Success? Empirical Research on Indonesian SMEs

This study aims to examine the effect of technology usage and financial resources on SMEs business success. Besides, it studies the relationship between SMEs business success and SMEs ownership. This study uses primary data in the form of questionnaires with purposive sampling method. The questionnaires are given to 120 SMEs owners who responsible for the success of their companies. The result proves that technology usage and financial resources have a significant impact on SMEs business success. Besides, there is a significant difference between technology usage and success of business based on SMEs ownership. This study is expected to provide benefits for the SMEs owners in planning the need for technology to raise business success. This study explains the relation between technology usage, SMEs business success and SMEs ownership that has never been performed before.

The knowledge-based view (KBV) in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is a debatable topic in the current literature. Although convergence of technological and financial literacy (techno-finance literacy) is an essential knowledge-based tool to address rapid digitalization of business, the influence of techno-finance literacy in the development of SMEs is still not adequately researched. Do Digital Technologies Influence the Relationship between the COVID-19 Crisis and SMEs’ Resilience in Developing Countries?

The COVID-19 pandemic is not only a medical emergency but also a business emergency that has created the need for organizations to be resilient and versatile in managing the impact of the pandemic on their business operations. At this time, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the most vulnerable to the economic disaster caused by the recent crisis, because these companies do not have the necessary resources to absorb losses. This research reviewed the impact of digital technologies on SMEs’ resilience during the pandemic, focusing on companies in developing countries.
