Promoting Creativity and Innovation in the Education System (original) (raw)
An important key to success in achieving ones full human potential is positivity i.e. the quality of being confident, optimistic, and cooperative. Positivity gained importance when Martin Seligman a professor at the University of Pennsylvania focused on Positive psychology as a new area of psychology in 1998 that seeks "to find and nurture genius and talent", and "to make normal life more fulfilling", not simply to treat mental illness. The main limitation on what students can do is what they think they can't do. All students have the capacity to be creators and to experience the joy associated with making something new, all we need to do is to give them a strong base for creativity. We need to let them know that they possess the ability to meet all of life's challenges whereas it’s their job is to decide how hard they will work to meet the challenges. The arguments presented in this paper will focus on developing those skills that lead to creating, enhancing and maintaining personal and professional well-being resulting in optimal human functioning. This is possible only through paying special attention to developing positivity and creativity in an individual that will help us design and achieve a life filled with joy and purpose, a life imbued with hope, energy, self-confidence and personal achievement, a life in which we're able to weather the inevitable storms with grace and resilience.
