This chapter examines the development and current state of public policy education in Turkey, based on the teaching of the subject mostly in political science and public administration departments. As such, the objective of the study is to analyse and explain the conditions under which public policy classes – among other relevant developments such as the production of teaching materials, the creation of new organisational units, such as public policy Master’s programs and sub-departmental units/concentrations, and the organisation of scholarly activities, such as public policy workshops – have emerged and evolved over time, and the motivations of the faculty to introduce, develop and maintain public policy courses. To this end, studies on the teaching of public policy in the political science and public administration departments in Turkish universities at undergraduate and graduate levels are reviewed. The results of these analyses provide data to compare and contrast public policy education in Turkey with other nationwide practices that can be found in the literature, such as in the case of the Czech Republic. The study concludes with a discussion of current and future challenges facing public policy education in Turkey, and recommendations for addressing these.
