Background: Nurses are health professionals who are at risk of experiencing stress. It was found that the percentage of stress events in the world was around 74% experienced by nurses. Stress that occurs in nurses is influenced by excessive workload. This study aims to determine the relationship between workload and work stress of nurses. Methods: The design used is a literature review, articles are collected using search engines, namely Researchgate, Google Scholar, Garuda Portal, Medline and Pubmed. The criteria for the articles used are those published in 2018-2020. Result: The results of statistical analysis of seven articles from nine articles obtained p value < 0.05, meaning that there is a relationship between workload and nurse work stress and two other articles show that the relationship between workload and work stress has a strong and positive categorical relationship. Conclusion: The higher the workload experienced by nurses, the higher the level of stress.
