Da Identidade Para a Solidariedade / from the Identity to the Solidarity (original) (raw)

Acta Semiotica Et Lingvistica, 2012

Abstract

The essay points to different interpretations for the words identity and solidarity, more specifically in the United States, because of the huge ethnic-cultural diversity. The concept of solidarity is best suited to certain communities, as individuals recognize in their neighbor a person who best can support and also can share the needs, rather than the rest of the population. We can affirm that solidarity leads us to an affiliation: the several “us” that builds different communities.
