Re-existencias travestis: Una contrahistoria desde la diferencia visual en Perú (original) (raw)

This paper explores the role of museums in the articulation of power and knowledge relations, contrasting them with traditional institutions of confinement such as asylums and prisons, as theorized by Foucault. It argues for a re-evaluation of museums not as sites of confinement, but as complex spaces of exhibition that reflect and construct public power dynamics. The study examines the historical evolution of museums alongside disciplinary institutions and their symbolic meanings within urban landscapes, ultimately illustrating how the museum serves both as an educational space and a mechanism of social control.
