A Study of Bullying Prevalence Among Secondry School Students

The present study investigated extent of bullying among secondary school students along with intervention of adults like teachers, parents, elders to prevent bullying and involvement of students in bullying. The researcher also made an attempt to study different forms of bullying and the extent of bullying among boys and girls. Sample selected was 444students in which 269 boys and 175 girls are included from secondary school students of SSC board from greater Mumbai. Tool used for present study personal data sheet, olweus bully victim questionnaire were used to collect data. It was found that 17-16 %girls and boys reported that they getting bullied and also reported that they don't have friends.32% girls and 34 %boys reported that they getting bullied for longer time duration and also found shorter period bullying is more in girls than boys. Surprisingly reporting of bullying to class teacher is shown more by boys than girls.

Effects of bullying on the mental health of adolescents

Objective: To evaluate the effects of bullying on the mental effect of adolescents. Study Design: Cross Sectional study. Setting: Sacred Heart Convent School and Ibn e Sina School in Lahore. The data was compiled and analyzed at CMH Lahore Medical College. Period: November 2019-January 2020. Material & Methods: Three hundred and eighty one participants were selected from both schools and the severity of bullying was analyzed by using a Performa. The scores were calculated and compared with Victimization scale and WHO wellbeing index respectively. Results: The Victimization scale had a score range from 54 to 0. The mean was 8.04 with a Std. Deviation of 9.12. For the WHO well Being Index, 42.8% of total students scored less than 13, indicating negative impacts on mental health. 57.2% of students scored 13 or more. Identifying Bullying and Its Relationship with Mental Health Problem Among Adolescents: A Scoping Review

Bullying action was still as trend and current issue, especially among adolescence. This was related to increasing incidence per year and its large impact especially on mental health problems. Where adolescence's mental health was a long-term asset because of its influence on development level and quality of life among adolescents in the future. The study aims was to identify and analysis literature at five years recent (2019-2023) regarding to bullying and its relationship with mental health problem among adolescence. The study design was a scoping review. The searching literature using journal database PubMed (MEDLINE), Proquest, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar through entering keywords bullying, mental health problem, adolescence. 12 articles selected from 384 articles as met inclusion criteria including original articles, discuss about bullying and mental health problem among adolescence, published at 5 years recent (2019-2023), available free full text, and using english languages. The result reported that bullying incidents among adolescence were associated with gender, age, role in bullying, and type of bullying. Majority adolescence who experience bullying were at high risk of experiencing mental health problem especially depression, anxiety, and even suicidal idea and perpetration. There were correlation between bullying incidence with mental health problem among adolescence. The study result expecting could give an understanding to adolescence regarding to bullying and its huge negative impact on mental health, so that bullying action among adolescence could be stopped.

Bullying Victimization and its Associated Factors among Adolescent Students

Introduction: Bullying is common type of school violence and is a major source of maladjustment with undue effect on health and academic performance among adolescents. This study aimed to identify the prevalence of bullying victimization among adolescent students and its association with socio-demographic, family and school characteristics. Methods: It was descriptive survey carried out among 568 adolescents studying in Grade 7 to 11 of 10 public and 10 private schools of Kathmandu municipality selected through multi-stage stratified cluster sampling technique. Nepali version of modified revised Olweus Bully Victim Questionnaire (OBVQ) was used for data collection through Google Survey Tool after taking informed consent. Bullying victimization and its associated factors among adolescents in Kozhikode district, Kerala, India: a mixed-methods study

Background: Bullying victimization among adolescents is a serious concern as it leads to poor psycho-social adjustments in the future. Literature on bullying at schools in Kerala is limited. This study aimed to investigate the magnitude of bullying and the factors associated with it among adolescents. Methods: A sequential explanatory study design was used. A cross-sectional study among 764 adolescents (mean age 13.3 years, males 58.5%) selected through multistage cluster sampling was done. We used the Olweus Bully-Victim Questionnaire, Global School Health Survey, and Patient Health Questionnaire 9 for data collection. Binary logistic regression was performed to identify predictors of bullying victimization. After this, in-depth interviews were carried out among key stakeholders. These deteriorating situations involve one of the gruesome acts of bullying. The paper tries to define this act of bullying in relation to the mental health of children's affected with bullying. Psycho-social profile of school going children involved in any form of bullying

Introduction: Bullying is intentional, repeated negative behavior by one or more persons directed against a person who can't defend him/herself. Over all prevalence of bullying in Indian schools in previous studies is 53%. Bullying is major problem in both adolescents and children. With advent of increased aggression and violence in schools studying bullying and its effects is necessary especially in the Indian context where there is paucity of literature. Aims and Objectives: The present study is an attempt to assess prevalence of bullying, identifying bullies and victims and to study the psycho-social profile of school going children involved in any form of bullying. Materials and Methods: The total sample comprised of 249 students studying in the 5th and 6 th class. They were administered the Peer Interaction in Primary School Questionnaire (PIPS), Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) and details like weight, height and academic performance were also collected. Results: In the current study boys were more predominant in the bullies group. Verbal bullying (teasing and making fun) was more frequent compared to physical forms. Bully victim groups significantly had more emotional symptoms, peer problems and hyperactivity compared to other groups. Bully group had more conduct problems compared to other groups.

Impact of Bullying Behavior on Mental Health and Quality of Life Among Pre-Adolescents and Adolescents in Sialkot-Pakistan

Bullying in children and adolescents has become a serious social problem and a stern threat to mental health and well-being, leaving a shadow for severe psychopathology. Previous research has highlighted bullying behavior is a leading cause of emotional disturbances in children and adolescents, worsening their physical, psychological, and social sense of well-being. The aim of the present research was to explore the influence of bullying behavior on pre-adolescents, and adolescents' mental health and quality of life. Further, age group and gender differences were also explored. For this purpose, a random sample of 400 children and adolescents, aged 8-18 years from different schools and colleges of Sialkot-Pakistan were considered for assessment of bullying behavior. A self-develop demographic sheet along with different scales to assess bullying behavior, mental health and quality of life was administered. The results suggest that bullying behavior was negatively and significantly associated with mental health problems and quality of life in the whole sample. Findings further indicates the significant difference among pre-adolescents and adolescents on the variables of bullying behavior (t=13.34, ***p<0.01), QOL (t=-3.37, ***p<0.01) and mental health problems (t=-3.69, ***p<0.01). Gender differences on the variables of bullying behavior (t=13.34, ***p<0.01), QOL (t=-3.75, ***p<0.01) and mental health problems (t=-3.69, ***p<0.01) were also found significant. Bullying behavior exerts a greater impact on the mental health and well-being of children and adolescents. There is an immense need to devise preventive strategies to enhance the emotional, psychological well-being of this group.

School bullying has been identified as a problematic behavior among adolescents, affecting school achievement, prosocial skills, and psychological well-being for both victims and perpetrators. The purpose of this study was to identify different ways of bullying among 77 students of public secondary school, in Kathmandu, Nepal. A descriptive, crosssectional study design was carried out to study bullying among students in grade nine. Semistructured questionnaire related to sociodemographic information and factors associated with bullying was used along with Olweus Bullying Questionnaire. The mean age of respondents was 15.5 years. Victims faced bullies like verbal, physical, social, relational, and cyber-related bullying. About 87% of respondents experienced verbal bullying. according to respondents the major reason for bullying was their physical weakness (84.4%).

Objective: Bullying and victimization are common and serious problems in schools resulting in development of emotional and behavioral disorders in adolescents.
