The Jornal Brasileiro de Psiquiatria: A Bibliometric Survey of the one hundred most cited articles in the last 15 years

Jornal Brasileiro de Psiquiatria, 2021

Objective: Bibliometrics is a group of statistical and mathematical methods employed to measure and analyze the quantity and the quality of scientific articles, books, and other forms of publications. The objective of the present study was to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the Jornal Brasileiro de Psiquiatria (JBP) by listing its 100 most highly cited articles in the scientific literature and identifying their main characteristics in terms of authorship and research topics and design. Methods: The 100 top-cited references in the JBP were identified through a search with Google Scholar. The main author, last author, corresponding author, the total number of authors, gender of the authors, year of publication, research institution, geographic origin, language, and the research design and subject of each reference were recorded and analyzed. Results: A marked increase in the number of citations in the last 15 years, a relatively balanced distribution of publications among the Brazi...

The internationality index of the Spanish psychology journals

… Journal of Clinical …, 2007

The concept of international publication is one of the most utilized criteria to evaluate the productivity of researchers and scientific institutions. Nevertheless, it is also one of the most polemic subjects as until the presence, no Internationality Index has been defined nor established. This descriptive study analyzes the Spanish Psychology journals included in the IN-RECS database according to the level of the internationality. Each journal was evaluated taking into account the eleven criteria of the internationality (the publication language, the impact factor-in this case the Impact Index according to the IN-RECS database-, the countries from which the members of the editorial boards are, the names of the journals, the inclusion in the Journal Citation Reports, the countries from which the authors are, the standards of publication, the internet access, the free internet access, the inclusion in the databases, and the journal's affiliation to "international" associations). The scores of each journal in all criteria were summed up and sorted by the total scores in the internationality in the descending order which resulted in the Internationality Index of the Spanish Psychology Journals. It is important to emphasize that four of the five journals which occupy the highest positions in the ranking are indexed in the Web of Science.

Bibliometric analysis of publications of Spanish pharmacologists in the SCI (1984–89

Scientometrics, 1992

The present study is a bibliometric analysis, of publications of Spanish pharmacologists, referenced in the journals of the Pharmacology & Pharmacy subfield of the Science Citation Index- CD Edition from 1984 to 1989. During this time the scientific output of Spanish pharmacologists has been growing at an impressive rate being almost doubled. This rate being notably greater than that corresponding to publications of Spain in all science fields. This increase in scientific output was accompanied by a time-dependent decrease on year by year step basis in the expected impact factor (EIF) of publications (Articles plus Notes), from 1.71 in 1984 to 1.28 in 1989, in close correlation with an increase of mean number of authors per paper, from 3.67 to 4.16 authors/paper, respectively. Moreover, the larger the number of authors/paper, the smaller the EIF. Only 8 journals cumulated more than 50% of the papers. The scientific production was geographically localized at a high extent (Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia accounted for the 63.7% of all the papers) in governmental institutions (University, 75.2%, Hospitals, 14.1%; CSIC, 10.5%) with one large geographical area lacking any productivity.

Development of bibliometrics in Colombia

The literature on bibliometrics published by Colombian and foreign authors who selected Colombian academic journals or events held in the country to communicate their findings is analyzed. The publications by Colombian researchers published abroad were also collected and analyzed. The type of documents used by researchers, the journals most used, and the languages used for communicating their findings were also studied. The growth of the literature, the network of co-authorships, the more productive authors, and scientific fields most researched were also analyzed. It was found 255 papers were published in academic journals, most of them in Spanish language; 77% of authors have published just one document, while 23% of them made between 2 and 24 contributions. The production of this kind of literature is concentrated in the last decade as well as the collabortion behavior of authors. The literature is growing in an exponential form at a rate of 20% per year and doubling in size every 4 years. Network analysis identified six research groups in the country.

A bibliometric analysis of a national Journal: The case of the Turkish Journal of Psychology

Journal of Scientometric Research, 2013

What contributions do researchers in the social sciences and humanities in Turkey make to science internationally? In an attempt to answer this question, this study conducts a bibliometric analysis of the Turkish Journal of Psychology (Turk Psikoloji Dergisi [TPD]) as indexed in the Social Science Citation Index Multidisciplinary Psychology since 1995, volume 10, issue 35. Descriptive data showed that TPD published a total of 215 articles, about 11 per year, in Turkish (84.65%) and English (15.35%). On an average, an article was authored by 2 (2.01) authors and the article/unique author ratio was about 1:1 (.98). Apart from Turkey, authors were affiliated with the USA, Canada, The Netherlands, Australia, Cyprus, England, and Germany. Most of the publications were products of authors affiliated with universities in Ankara, Turkey. TPD was ranked 115 out of 126 journals in the category of Multidisciplinary Psychology in the Journal Citation Reports-Social Sciences Edition, with an impact factor of 0.214 in 2012 and a 5-year impact factor of 0.154. Aside from the most common words such as the, in, and so on, "Turkish" (n = 30), followed by "study" and "memory," were the most frequently used words in titles; "study," (n = 325) "memory," (n = 206) and "between" (n = 201) were the most frequently used words in abstracts. On an average, articles had about five keywords, including about four keywords unique to the article. These findings suggest that TPD is an extremely local, but highly impactful journal publishing articles on very diverse topics from self to culture, and from memory to depression to scale development.

Evolución y alcance multidisciplinar de tres técnicas de análisis bibliométrico

Palabra Clave (La Plata), 2020
