Fusion of Fuzzy AHP in selecting material for drinking water bottle based on customer needs

2017

In this paper, selection of drinking water bottle material is to be selected. Therefore, to try out decision making tools efficiency, three methods have been used. The methods are fusion of Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with Fuzzy logic with different membership function. The material selected are silicone, polypropylene, HDPE, LDPE and Tin. The criterion that being taken into consideration are price, density, tensile strength, thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity. Three methods have been carried out, and the weightage compared in the form of line graph. The best material gave by traditional AHP and trapezoidal AHP are Polypropylene, however triangular AHP gave LDPE is the best. But all three methods shows that tin is the least desirable when it does not satisfy all criterions.

Evaluating and selecting the supplier in detergent production industry using hierarchical fuzzy TOPSIS

Supply chain management has increasingly attracted attention as a systematic approach to integrate the supply chain in order to planning and controlling the materials and information from suppliers to customers. One of the most important issues in supply chain management is selection of the appropriate supplier which has significant effect on purchasing cost decrease and increase in the organization’s competition ability. Selection of the best supplier is naturally complex with no definite structure, and dependent on the type of suppliers’ activity. In the process of decision making about suppliers and many qualitative and quantitative performance indicators such as quality, price, flexibility, and due date should be considered. Then, the supplier selection problem is a multi-criteria decision making problem where numerous methods have been proposed to solve this problem so far. In the current paper, four suppliers of imported raw material ‘‘Tripolyphosphate (TPP)’’ (primary material to produce the detergent powder with a case study in Iran) are evaluated based on 25 effective criteria using the hierarchical fuzzy TOPSIS (HFTOPSIS) approach

An Integrated Decision Framework for Material Selection Procedure: A Case Study in a Detergent Manufacturer

Symmetry, 2018

The new product development process (NPD) is considered to be the key factor of competition among different markets. The identification of a suitable material is an important issue in the conception and improvement of new products. Material selection is seen as an important multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem in engineering because of the requirement of considering multiple criteria from different dimensions. Improper material selection may negatively affect the success of a firm. The purpose of this study is to specify the importance of selection attributes, which are considered to evaluate washing liquid that meets the needs of both customers and firms. Then, it objects to choose the most appropriate alternative among various formulations. A fuzzy MCDM methodology based on quality function deployment (QFD), 2-tuple fuzzy linguistic representation, and linguistic hierarchies is presented. QFD is used to incorporate customer requirements into the evaluation process. The 2-...

Pharmaceutical Product Selection: Application of AHP

International Journal of Business and Management

Pharmaceutical industry caters to the health care needs through manufacturing drugs that cure diseases. With retailers being one of the customers in this industry, it is imperative for any pharmaceutical companyto address the issues concerning their preferences for these drugs to remain competitive in business. This prompts us to investigate the factors that influence their decisions in selecting the pharmaceutical products. This paper aims to identify those factors and rank them through application of analytical hierarchy process (AHP) with the support of the Expert Choice Software version 11.0. In this regard, six factors are identified, namely, quality of products, availability of products, variety of products, delivery deadline, flexibility in quantity, and competitive price that affect the purchasing decision of the retailers. The result indicates that among the chosen six factors, quality of products is ranked first followed by variety of products, availability of products, fl...

DECISION MAKING OF RAW MATERIAL SUPPLIER FOR PRODUCT PP 10160104xx IN PT. KOMPINDO FONTANA RAYA USING FUZZY AHP APPROACH

2014

PT. Kompindo Fontana Raya is a knitting factory that produces main product PP 10160104xx. PP 10160104xx is a knit rope that is used for waist belt production. To produce this product, PT. Kompindo orders yarn as raw material and should choose the best supplier among 8 (eight) yarn suppliers. The choice of supplier is based on criteria as follows: term of payment, product quality, product price, delivery time, accuracy of order quantity, and delivery suitability. At that time, the decision choice of supplier is based on decision maker’s intuition. Consequently, this leads to some suppliers can not satisfy some requirements of factory, such as low quality of yarn, lateness on delivery time, broken yarn, price too high, etc. These problems cause the company loss in time and cost. To overcome this problem, a Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (F-AHP) model was developed based on Fuzzy Synthetic Extent Analysis approach (Chang, 1996). The result from F-AHP model indicates that supplier P...

Analytical Hierarchy Process for Higher Effectiveness of Buyer Decision Process

Buyer decision processes are the decision-making processes undertaken by consumers about a potential market transaction before, during, and after the purchase of a product or service. More generally, decision-making is the cognitive processes of selecting a course of action from among multiple alternatives. How many evaluation criteria a consumer will use, what different types of criteria will be considered and how much importance will be placed on each of them depends on the consumer himself and the product consideration. The Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a multi criteria decision-making process that is especially suitable for complex decisions, which involve the comparison of decision elements, which are difficult to quantify. The crux of AHP is the determination of the relative weights to rank the decision alternatives. In this study, it has been identified that through using AHP model consumers can evaluate the product attributes differently from simple evaluation criteria. AHP process described an effective buying decision by finding out the effectual attributes of different alternatives.

Sistem Pendukung Keputusan Pemilihan Paket Makanan Dengan Metode Analytical Hierarchy Process (Ahp) Dan Simple Additive Weighting (Saw) Pada Catering Bu Sri

Jurnal JSIKA, 2021

Currently, the competition in the catering industry is very competitive. This is indicated by the increasing number of catering industries. Catering Bu Sri is a home catering business that serves orders for boxed rice and tumpeng for various events. Catering Bu Sri provides a varied food menu, including 5 kinds of rice, 20 main side dishes, and 13 side dishes. The problem that is often faced by customers and Catering Bu Sri is, customers are confused about choosing food menu to order into one menu package, the catering staff must choose the food menu according to customer criteria, and the time needed to select or recommend a food package according to the criteria is quite long, is about 15-30 minutes. The solution based on these problems is by making a decision support system for selecting food packages using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method. The process carried out is by filtering the data based on the criteria for the number of menus and the level of vegetarianism, then combined to become a food package. Combination results filtered based on 75% to 100% of the customer's budget. Analytical Hierarchy Process method used to determine the priority weights for each criterion, and Simple Additive Weighting method used to determine global priority by multiplying the value of all alternatives on all criteria by the average value of the criteria. Based on the test, the system that has been created can help customers and the catering party in selecting or recommending food packages according to the criteria and speeding up the time for selecting food packages by 60 to 90 times from the previous process.

Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP): Implementation in the Selection of Suppliers of Coagulant Chemicals

IJMRAP, 2023

This research was conducted at a water treatment company with coagulant chemicals as the main raw material. So far, the company has only used one supplier to procure coagulants, but the company has received offers from several suppliers. This is of course a problem of how to choose the best supplier in accordance with the criteria set by the company. The AHP method is used to solve the problem of coagulant supplier selection. Supplier selection is one of the most important things in purchasing activities for companies, where purchasing activities are activities that have important value for companies because purchasing components, raw materials, and supplies represents a fairly large portion of the finished product. There are many offers by suppliers, selected 3 suppliers (A, B, C) that are worthy of consideration with the 6 criterias. The results of this study are supplier A in the first rank (weight 0.67), Supplier B in rank 2 (weight 0.19) and supplier C in rank 3 (weight 0.15).
