Date of Submission: 11th November 2 Introduction: In the sub-continent, journalism in Urdu and the other native languages began significantly later than journalism in English. Employees of the East India Company and European Christian Missionaries founded the Indian newspaper. The native Indian people first showed interest in this commerce in the third decade of the 19th century. The media in the NWFP (Now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), like the national media, was crucial in helping Muslims vent their frustrations while also fostering increased awareness of and cooperation around the concept of Muslim nationhood in the past and playing a viral role in shaping public opinion in present as well. Objectives: In recent years, social communication channels throughout the world have been dramatically impacted by the expanding usage of digital media. Information technology is changing the media and communication work in Pakistan. The avenues of communication are altered owing to the amazing growth of digital media devices. The objective of this study is to explore the experts' opinions about the past, present and future prospects of Urdu Journalism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The central questions of this research is that what were, are and will be the causes and problems to Urdu journalism of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Previously NWFP). Methodology & Analysis: In-depth interviews were conducted under the qualitative research design for data collection. Data was collected from the academicians and journalists of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Convenient sampling method was adopted, while data was collected from 10 experts i.e.,5 academicians and 5 journalists. Thematic and descriptive methods of analysis were adopted. One of the interviewers didn't give us time due to busy schedule. It is found that one of the reviewers was critical, while rest of the others were agreed that Urdu Journalism played a vital role in the past in the development of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Currently, Urdu journalism is practicing commercialization instead of professionalism due to emergence of new media technology. Urdu journalism is facing financial problems, policy threats, and limitation of advertisement, slow media, and commercialization. Additionally, they explored that currently Urdu journalism nothing but just commercialization in the province. They suggest that Urdu Journalism needs freedom of expression, de-militarization, and usage of new technology, need quality news instead of quantity and trainings & facilities to the journalists in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Multimedia Journalism in Bangladesh: Case Study on The Daily Star
The Daily Star, Bangladesh’s most popular English daily seems different from its other media counterparts in the practice of journalism, particularly in technological transformation. The researcher hence went for a case study with a view to observing the trend of multimedia journalism in the news organisation; and thus to perceiving the future of the multimedia practice in the country. Empirical observation in light with the theoretical perspectives of EM Rogers’ “Diffusion of Innovation” finds that The Daily Star, after adopting the multimedia practice of journalism, covered stories related to arts and entertainment (19%), politics (15 %) crimes and rights (15 %) and feature/offbeat items (14%) mostly, while the issues like health (0%), agriculture (2%) and women (3%) got the minimal coverage. Print journalists are getting used to the practice as 10% of total news stories came from their side during the study period. Though the daily is yet to see profit out of their multimedia production initially, it tries to make up the cost from the print revenue and dreams of a better future in the upcoming days. The saying that future day journalism is wireless will be more expanded with the adding of multimedia production to the online, presenting with the tastes of both reading the texts, seeing the visuals and listening the sounds for the audience.

In this study I am trying to focus the technological transformation in field of practicing journalism in Bangladesh. The last decades a revolutionary technological change has been occurred in Journalism sector. It has been rapidly growth globally. As a result it is so much easier to collect different formats of news and relevant docs. Also massive changes have been brought in disseminating news items. Totally the general people are highly benefited by easily capturing news information. As the technological changes the types of journalism has been changed. Recently a common term of journalism is going to mouth from mouth. That is citizen Journalism. The practicing of citizen journalism has been increased in Bangladesh. Very few years ago the suburb journalists are very much worried to send their report to the media houses in a disaster situation but became the technological advancement they are easily sending their report in media houses. Increasing the using of Smartphone most of readers are inclined to read a newspaper in online. So the Bangladeshi media houses are using mobile platform based version online news portals.
Traditional Media Use of Journalists and Audiences in Sindh Province, Pakistan

Media have become part and parcel in the routines of our everyday life. However, on the other hand media consumers have also become selective in their media preferences and choices to seek information. In this way, this study presents data about media consumption preferences of Sindh journalists and the widely consumed medium in Sindh in the opinion of Sindh journalists in Pakistan. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with a purposive and opportunistic sample of 576 Sindh journalists affiliated with print, electronic and wire-service media organisations. The key findings indicated that in the respect of print media the Sindh journalists preferred most to read newspaper. Whereas, in the perspective of electronic media it was observed that television was the highest consumed medium by the Sindh journalists. Additionally, the sample journalists viewed that among the Sindh audience the most widely consumed news medium is first, newspaper and then television.
The internet was first used in 1985 and since then it has led to certain significant innovations in many fields around the world. These innovations area also valid for journalism. The internet has transformed both Professional practices and publishing methods in journalism. In our study, we analyzed the transformative impacts of the internet on journalism practices. In accordance with the study, a questionnaire on internet usage habits was conducted to a group of local journalists working in Konya. There are 15 local newspapers active in the center of Konya province according to the 2016 database registration of Konya Press Advertising Agency. Besides there are 33 newspapers in nearby towns of Konya. While the newspapers located in the city center have 225 journalists, the ones in nearby towns have 100 in total. 42 of the journalists who applied the questionnaire have closely experienced some professional transformations while working actively in the press. The survey was conducted to measure how often and to what extent journalists used the internet in the process of making and publishing news. Throughout this survey, innovations that the internet brought to journalism was questioned and the internet`s impact on the journalism of tomorrow was reported. The journalists conveyed their internet experiences about the profession and we analyzed how journalism was changed by the internet and new technologies.

Being the fourth pillar of democracy, the media has a very crucial role to play in the welfare of a nation, especially of a democratic nation like India. By providing the people with information about various issues related to the other three pillars- the Judiciary, the Executive and the Legislative - the media not only maintains the balance of democracy but also plays the important role of influencing the public, helping in formation of a public opinion, and thus acting as a crucial factor in changing socio-political values. The advancement in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has brought about far-reaching changes in the way the media functions these days. With an advent of the internet, the audience seeks more than just news; it also looks for other information, entertainment and infotainment. And this influence of ICT is seen to have extended to regional media outlets as well marking a great phase of transformation of regional media. In linguistically-diverse country like India, the importance of language journalism cannot be underplayed. The latest technology has enabled even the language press to publish and broadcast content on the internet. This clearly points to the fact that English is no longer the only language of the web doing away with the erstwhile limitations of language. With this newly added advantage, journalism can be turned into something more productive and reaching a wider audience. With the language barrier now out of the way, journalists can use the internet to disseminate news, information and other similar. Based on the primary and secondary data collected during the course of this research, the authors intend to study the trends in online Assamese journalism, implementation of ICT tools by journalists writing primarily in the Assamese language, their social media usage for journalistic endeavours. This paper also attempts to study the levels of awareness among the journalists about online laws, ethics governing the Indian press and at the same time will also try to understand the degree of digital literacy among the community of journalist of Assam.

It has given the fast speed to the vehicle of news media to carry any news or information immediate to the journalists and audiences. The journalists are using new media at a large scale in their professional job. The invention of new media deeply impacted the journalism profession throughout the world. It has brought the changes from a micro level to macro level in journalism industry. This study followed by survey method reveals how the journalism in India has changed after the arrival of new media. What is the impact of new media on main stream news media and is the new media beneficial or a challenge for main stream news media in India.
Newspapers of Bangladesh in the Digital Age: Strategies and Applications

Technologies are posing numerous challenges to the newspaper industry around the world by exploring digital platforms and changing the reading habits of audiences living in the digital age. The challenges are putting impacts on the circulations and revenues of newspapers that are causing readership and economic loss. To survive in this age, the newspaper industries around the world are adopting several strategies to meet the challenges and cope up with the technological changes. The study aims to examine the types of strategies of Bangladeshi newspapers and the extent of their applications to see how the newspapers are surviving. Based on purposive sampling, the study selects Bangladesh Protidin, Prothom Alo, Kaler Kantha, and Samakal, the most popular Bengali dailies in Bangladesh. Based on the in-depth interviews (IDI) and the content analysis, the results reveal that several strategies such as creating online versions, use of social media, working with integrated newsrooms, and so on have been planned but yet to be properly applied in the newspapers in full swing. The study explores the lack of focus and emphasis on the executions of the strategies due to numerous causes including the economic crisis, lack of human resources, social limitations, and the scarcity of supports and time. The study shows that the newspapers lack the dedicated procedure to measure the effectiveness of the strategies, and are still following the traditional methods that show the weak stand to cope up with the technological changes and ever-changing reading habits of the audience. Furthermore, the findings reveal an unparalleled economic base among the newspapers that have created a monopolist and imbalanced media market in the country. The study concludes by emphasizing on the coordinated initiatives of the government, journalists, and media owners for the survival of print newspapers of Bangladesh in the digital age.
