Impact of Pakistan Television (PTV) Dramas on Rural Culture: A Case Study of District Layyah

This study is an effort to investigate the “Impact of PTV Prime Time Dramas on Rural Culture in District Layyah.” The study used the survey method for data collection. A sample of 308 respondents consisting of 154 Males and 154 Females has been taken from the rural areas of district Layyah, using purposive and convenience sampling technique. The findings indicate that majority of overall respondents prefer to watch PTV prime time dramas to gratify their entertainment needs and they follow the mannerism and life style shown in dramas having considerable effect on their cultural patterns. Majority of viewers prefer to watch PTV dramas more frequently than other programs. They are more influenced by modern life style and dressing. Majority of viewers are of the view that new cultural trends in PTV drams is presented through mix gathering, Drinking, Eating, Singing, Dancing, and handshaking. The effect of Television Serials on Rural Women of Nizamabad District

Now-a-days television is treated as a major source of entertainment, education ,information and knowledge for women .Television watching is taken as a daily routine for most of the women and it reflect their preferences, choices. Which intern gives scope to build their Taste's. Among all TV programs serials / soap operas are most popular ones. Serials occupied 20% of the TV schedule in comparison to other entertainment programs. TV serials have the highest TRP rate, pushing other programs aside. In this article researcher want to find out the effect of TV serials on rural women of Nizamabad district. So the researcher selected target population female from age group 18 to 60 years from villages of Nizamabad .The study revealed that viewing patterns of respondents indicated that their free evening time, which was previously used for social and family bonding, is now spent in front of TV especially for serials. .In returns those serials influencing women in their language, dress maintenance and social bonding.

Effects of Dramas of Pakistan Television on Youth

No one can deny the importance of television in terms of its effects. It has a relatively a persuasive impact on a country like Pakistan where majority of the people are illiterate. Pakistan television (PTV) a state owned and government controlled television was introduced in 1964 and now has access to 99% population of the country. There was a time when PTV was the only channel available to the people but with the advent of advanced technology and introduction satellite channels through dish antenna and cable television a competition has been created between the programmes of PTV and of foreign channels. Thus this 'invasion from the sky' forced PTV to glamorise its programmes specially the drama, in order to maintain the interest of the audience. In this context this study was done to evaluate the effects of PTV dramas on the youth of Lahore. It applied survey method and data was collected from the postgraduate students of Universities of Lahore, including University of the Punjab, Government College University and Lahore College for Women University through structured interviews. The study concluded that PTV is cultivating alien culture and norms and gradually bringing a change in the attitude of the youth through dramas. It also indicated that PTV drama is generating frustration among the youth but to a certain extent.

SOCIO CULTURAL IMPLICATIONS OF TV AMONG YOUTH IN ANANTNAG, JAMMU AND KASHMIR

In the era of communication revolution where each and every life affair seems irrelevant without the media technology, communication plays a pivotal role. There is a paradigm shift in media consumption habits of people as they are becoming more and more active participants in the process of communication rather than being passive receivers of mass media messages. The present paper includes the results of a research carried out to analyze the accessibility, usage patterns and socio cultural implications of TV among youth in District Anantnag of J&K state. The paper illustrates the extent of media penetration in the lives of people more specifically among youth of Anantnag.

With the expansion of Cable Television service to much of the nation over the past six years, concern has grown about the Cable TV watching habits of the youth in Pakistan. This study is aimed at collecting precise data to analyze the "opinion", preferences and requirements of the youth in Lahore regarding their Cable TV watching habits. The results can be generalized over the young population of Pakistan. For this purpose, students of both genders of different colleges and universities have been contacted so that people belonging to all sections of the society can be reached. From the 300 respondents in totality the results show that young people only acquire entertainment from the cable TV and not any productive motive is behind the reason of "liking" cable TV, yet they wish to have access to only those selected channels that do not promote immorality and untraditional indecency.

Children TV Watching Habits: A Case Study of Pakistan

Abstract: This research article deals with the TV viewing habits of children and their effects. The study was based on a survey research technique to explore and investigate the Children's TV programs effects. The sample size for this research study was 500 children belonging to different age groups and studying in different schools and colleges in Bahawalpur. Therefore, the population of the study was children studying in Bahawalpur. A close-ended questionnaire was used for data collection. Children who have aged between 3 to 6 and are unable to fill out the questionnaire. Their parents were asked to fill in the questions according to their habits of watching different TV programs related to children. The data were analyzed through SPSS. The exclusive analysis of the data reveals that the overall majority of children watch TV programs for 2 to 4 hours a day. The empirical analysis of the data reveals that overall majority of the children agree that their parents guide them on which program to watch and which is not. It is also worth noting that overall majority of the children are of the view that entertainment TV programs for children increase their healthy relationship with their parents.

Present research study is based on survey to explore and investigate the positive effects of TV programs on children. The main objectives were to explore TV program watching habits and its progressive change in the behavior of children. The sample size of the study was 500 respondents’ parent, Teachers and children. The data was collected parents and their children by using standardized questionnaire. Social construction theory of media is the most relevant theory which support this study. The empirical analysis of the data reveals that TV programs have positive effects both social and cognitive on children behavior. The analysis of the data also reveals that children learn different social skills after watching children TV programs and they also enable themselves to solve the issues faced in daily routine life.

Programs for Children: Pakistani Televisions' Content in 2020

Television can play a significant role in nation building and children are generally viewed to be playing a vital role in building the image of a nation. Due to its significance, recent years have seen a worldwide rise in the media content that focuses children as the target audience. Several studies had investigated Pakistani televisions' content with reference to adults, women and youth audiences. Studies related to children had mostly focused on the impact of television content on children or children's attitudes towards television content. However, the impact of educating and entertaining television on Pakistani children has received limited attention. Therefore, this paper initiated to examine the role of Pakistani television channels to educate or entertain Pakistani children, during January-December 2020. The foremost objective of this paper is to examine the proportion of children's programs in the top four Pakistani entertainment television channels. For this reason, the transmissions of top five Pakistani general entertainment television channels were taken into account included; Hum TV HD, ARY Digital, Geo Entertainment, and ARY Zindagi. The study found only a few programs for children that were fulfilling the purposes of entertaining and educating. Hence, Pakistani television channels are not fulfilling their responsibility in nation-building, as being a social agent of change, the media is responsible to play a key role in building their character and improving the ethical standards of Pakistani children.

Impact of Global Media on the Culture of Pakistan: A Case Study of Youth of Layyah City

Pakistan is an under developing country and it is facing the problems of globalization which are created due to global media. The present study is conducted to dig out the impact of global media of Pakistani culture with particular focus on the role of cable television in the promotion of foreign cultural trends in Pakistan. In this study it is documented that the young generation of Layyah city is extremely influenced due to cable network. To understand that what type of cultural impact have been imposed on our society by foreign TV entertainment channels. By using survey and content analysis data was collected from the target respondents. The results of the study strongly supported that foreign entertainment channels are extremely influencing the Pakistani young generation.

Impact of TV Advertisement on the Life Style of Pakistani Youth: A Case Study of Sindh Province
