Background: COVID-19 cases are increasing and nurses are at the forefront of handling COVID-19 patients, so they are at risk of contracting COVID-19. Data at Tk.II Marthen Indey Hospital, there were 12 nurses who tested positive for COVID-19. Lack of personal protective equipment affects nurses in carrying out their duties and work, this condition causes nurses to have pressure on their work which affects their physical, mental and social conditions. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the work stress of nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic in the inpatient room of Tk.II Marthen Indey Hospital.. Methods: This type of research is quantitative analytic with a cross sectional study design. This research was conducted at Tk.II Marthen Indey Hospital in an inpatient room which began in December 2020-January 2021. The population in this study were all nurses in the inpatient room of Tk.II Marthen Indey Hospital, with a sample using a total population of 85 people. Collecting data using online questionnaires, and processing and analyzing data for bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test, while to determine the dominant factor using multivariate analysis using logistic regression test with p-value = 0.05 with 95% CI. Results: The results showed that there was a relationship between workload (p-value = 0.000) and job satisfaction (p-value = 0.020) with work stress.

GFNPSS- International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research
INTRODUCTION Health is defined as state of complete physical, mental, social and intellectual well-being of a person and not merely an absence of disease by WHO (IAEA, 2010). It is necessary to timely analyze deviation that occurred in health of health care professionals (nurses) to ensure their mental, physical and social well-being (Ikademi 2011).¹ Nursing staff constitute a crucial component of healthcare system and they give direct care to patients and spend more time with them as compared to other healthcare workers. Therefore the probability of exposure to occupational risks such as physical, biological, chemical, psychological and ergonomic threats is higher among nurses.³ Nursing considered as a uniquely hazardous occupation, makes the nurses to become increasingly involved with the curative and technical treatment of the clients.⁴ During COVID-19 pandemic as countries moved towards social distancing, isolation measures and lockdown situations to support the public health control measures advocated by the WHO, nurses could feel increasingly isolated. Their psychological well-being is just as important as their physical health. The stressed nurses need time to process the stressful work they are doing and opportunities to debrief from this extremely demanding situation.⁵ Stress among nurses related to workload, work shifts, overtime and covering for absent colleagues were the most common stressor. During COVID-19 duties nurses were not even allowed to go their homes to keep their families protected, so they had to stay in the hostels or separate arrangements. It additionally lead to more stress with highly stressful nursing environment like enclosed nursing environment, long duty time, pressure, excessive noise, sudden swings, unpleasant sites and long standing hours.⁹

The research was conducted at Salak Hospital, Pakpak Bharat Regency also population was 100 people and the entire population was sampled. Data analysis used univariate, bivariate with chi-square test, and multivariate with multiple logistic regression at 95% confidence level (p=0.05). The results show that there is a relationship between physical workload, discipline, and cooperation on the implementation of patient safety during the Covid-19 pandemic, p < 0.05. While the unrelated variables are psychological workload, service orientation, integrity, and commitment, p> 0.05. The variable that has the biggest relationship to the implementation of patient safety during the Covid-19 pandemic is the physical workload with a value of Exp(B)/OR = 13,453.
