Abstract

The African Solutions to African Problems is one of the remarkable achievements of the transformation of the OAU to AU. The ASAP through the stability apparatus and mechanisms of the AU has assisted the African continent in maintaining peaceful and stable environment that guarantee the safety of lives and properties of the entire people living in the African continent irrespective of their race and nationality. The study examines some of the circumstances that led to the formation of ASAP in Africa and how the AU has utilized the security apparatus or organs that provided under the Constitutive Act of the organization to maintain stability in the continent. The study makes use of the hegemonic stability theory to explain how collective responsibility is the security and stability issue in Africa.
