The purpose of the study was to obtain empirical evidence about the effectiveness of clustering technique on students' ability in writing recount text. The method of this study was quasi-experimental. The population of this study is all tenth grade of SMAN 87 Jakarta at the 2014/2015 academic year. The technique of sampling was accidental sampling, Class X MIA 2 as the experimental class while Class X MIA 1 as the controlled class which each of class consists of 20 students. The data collecting is done by giving the test (pretest and post-test). This study use T-test formula as the technique of data analysis. The result of the data analysis shows that the value of the t count was 2.92 while the value of t table in the significance level 5% was 2.02. Therefore, the score of t count is higher than the t table or 2.92 > 2.02. It means that the alternative hypothesis (H a) is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejected (H 0). Writing is one of necessary skills that must be mastered. One fact is the writing interest among Indonesians is very low and less.This phenomenon may also be attributable to the low emphasis of the teaching and learning of writing in schools. The main objective of this thesis was to find out the effectiveness of using clustering technique in improving students' writing ability to the eighth grade students' of state junior high school 2 of Makarti Jaya. The method of used in this study was the experimental method. In the other words, experiment tries to compare one or more groups which are given the treatment, and other groups that is not given the treatment. The population of this research was students the eighth grade students of state junior high school 2 of Makarti Jaya with 46 students. The writer took two classes that were class 8A and 8B using purposive sampling technique. The data of this research were collected by written test: giving pretest and post-test to the students sample. The collected data were analyzed using t-test formula. The result of the data analysis showed that the two-tailed-test with 22 (df) had a critical value of 0.000 at the 0,05 significant level. Because the t-value of 1,645 was higher that the t-table, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. Students in the experimental group were able to improve their writing skills through descriptive writing as a result of their treatment. It also means that clustering technique was effective to improve the students writing ability to the eighth grade students of state junior high school 2 of Makarti Jaya.

The research was aimed to investigate whether clustering technique can affect students’ writing ability. The research was conducted at the first year students of Senior High School number 8 Bengkulu. In conducting the research, the researcher applied a quasi experiment method with MIA 2 and MIA 1 as the sample. MIA 2 as an experimental group that consist of 24 students was taught by using clustering technique and MIA 1 as a control group that consist of 26. They were taught by conventional technique. Both of the groups were given pre-test at the beginning, the post test at the end of the treatment. The data were analyzed by using t-test formula. From the culculation, the reseacher found that t-count was 2.07 and t-table was 2.01. For T-count of organization was 2.56, t-count of content was 3.62 and t-count of coherent was 3.47. Writing is often considered as a difficult subject by the students especially writing recount text. Recount text is a text which retell or experiences in the past that was given information to other person. In this case, the researcher applied Clustering technique to teach recount text. Therefore, this thesis is about the influence of using Clustering technique in teaching writing recount text. The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is an influence of using Clustering technique towards students" writing ability in recount text at the first semester of the eighth grade at MTs.Waylahu Kalianda in the academic year of 2018/2019. The methodology of this research was quasi experimental design with the treatment held in 3 meeting, 2 x 40 minutes for each. The population of this research was eighth grade students of MTs.Waylahu Kalianda. The total sample in this research was 68 students taken from two classes, VIII A and VIII B. In collecting the data, the researcher used instruments, pre-test and post-test. The instrument was recount text writing test. After giving the post-test, the researcher analyzed the data by using SPSS to computer independent sample t-test. From the data analysis computer by using SPSS, it was obtained that sig = 0.000 and α = 0.05. It means that H a is accepted because sig < α= 0.05. In other words, it could be concluded that there was influence of using clustering technique towards students" writing ability in recount text at the first semester of the eighth grade of Mts.Waylahu Kalianda in the academic year of 2018/2019.

The background of this research was based on the observation which has been done by the researcher with the English teacher of MAN Cilacap. The result of observation showed that some students of the 10th Grade of MAN Cilacap difficulties in grammar, low motivation in learning english, especially in learning writing skill. The aim of this study was to find out whether there was a statistically significant increase of students' writing ability in recount texts after they were taught through clustering technique. This research was quantitative research. The subjects of this research were 31 students. The writing test was administrated as the instrument of the research. The data were analyzed by using t-test value with the significant level p<0.05 through SPSS version 17.0. The result showed that there was a statistically significant increase of students' writing ability. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of clustering technique on students’ writing ability of descriptive text for the 10th grade students of SMK PGRI 4 Kediri in academic year 2018/2019. The method used in this study was a quantitative method and the design of this research was pre-experimental research by using one group pre-test post-test study. Based on the result of written test, the mean score of the class was increased. The finding of this study showed that there was a significant impact of clustering technique on students’ descriptive writing ability. It was proved after the data were analyzed by Paired Samples t-Test using SPSS software, it was obtained that Sig. (2-tailed) score was 0,000 smaller than 0.05. The aim of teaching foreign language is defined in terms of four skills, there are listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It clearly shows that the purpose of teaching English is enabling the students to master the four skills.
