Background: Pain-coping behavior of primiparous women may have adverse effects on the mother and fetus. In Tangerang, the majority of pregnant women have negative experiences of pain and pain-coping behaviors during labor.Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the invocation (do’a) on pain-coping behaviors of primiparous Muslim women during the first 3 hours of the active phase of labor.Methods: It was an experimental study with pre-posttest design. Ten primiparos women were randomly selected and assigned to the control and intervention group. Each group conssisted of 5 participants. Pain-coping behavior was measured by the Pain Behavior Observation Scale (POBS).Results: Findings revealed that pain-coping behaviors were increased for those who received the invocation (do’a) with p-value < .05 than those who received the routine care. Women responses to pain during child birth might be different. Some women cried, some would shout, while some were observed to be quite, calm and responding to midwives’ instructions. The aim of this study was to examine perception of pain and factors influencing pain response among parturients. Study would provide information regarding the needs of women for providing efficient care and support in labour. The study was a descriptive cross-sectional in nature in which 51 questionnaires were distributed to the women, 46 completed were collected, data analyzed and presented in descriptive form. Findings suggest that majority of women experienced mild to moderate pain in labour. Fear of labour and uncomfortable positions were the major factors aggravating labour pain. In order to reduce labour pain most women preferred reassurance, good attitude of midwives and good environmental condition. Childbirth Pain Perception and Behaviour: Socio-Cultural Diversity
Abstract: The study examined the socio – cultural diversities of childbirth pain perception and behaviour among women. The population of the study was postpartum mothers. The sample was 202 women who breastfeed selected by purposive sampling technique from hospitals and health centres within 48 hours after childbirth. One research question and three null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The instrument used for data collection was Questionnaire on Childbirth Pain Perception and Behaviour (QCPPB). Spearman Rank Order Correlation Coefficient (rho) was used to answer the research question while Chi – Sqaure test and Mann-Whitney- U test were employed in testing the null hypotheses at 0.01 level of significance. The results showed that birth location preference, parity and religious affiliation exert significant influence on childbirth pain perception and behaviour. Introduction: Labor pain is one of the greatest pains experienced by a woman in their life. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of acupressure and Quranic recital on labor pain reduction.Methods: The study design uses quasi-experiment with comparison between pretest and posttest on non-equivalent control group. Samples were as many as 30 laboring mothers in each group, totaling 60 samples who had been chosen through consecutive sampling technique. The labor pain was assessed through the NRS (Numeric Rating Scale) then analyzed univariately with mean and standard deviation, followed by independent T-sample statistical test such as bivariate analysis.Results: The average pain reduction score in the Hegu LI 4 acupressure group was higher than the Quranic recital of Surah Ar-Rahman group. Knowledge, perception, and desire for pain relief in labor among Iranian pregnant women
Background: One way to promote vaginal delivery and reduce unnecessary cesarean section, is by paying attention to labor pain relief techniques. The aim was to investigate knowledge, perceptions, and desire for pain relief in labor among Iranian pregnant women Methods: This descriptive study was conducted on 325 pregnant women who referred to prenatal clinics in 2020 and met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire on painless delivery. Data analysis was performed using SPSS v.21. Results: Most of the respondents (74%) were between 20-29 years old. 19.69% of participants were nulliparous and 62.76% had diplomas.72% were housewives. 56.61% of the participants had not enough information about pain relief in labor. Objective Labor pain is a subjective experience that is affected not only by physiological factors but also by psychosocial, cultural and envorimental factors. The aim of this study is to assess and determine the perceptions and feelings of women towards labor pain. Women in labor process with induction are more painful than normal labor that need to applicate an intervention to reduce pain in stage I labor. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of dhikr towards intensity of pain of labor during the active phase of the mother with labour induction. The study was conducted since May until June 2018 with one group quasi-experimental design. Pain score is measured before and after dhikr using Visual Analog Scale (VAS) every 30 minutes during the active phase of first stage. The mothers who met criteria recruited as the samples. Fifteen muslim mothers who had first labor induction, starting cervical dilatation in 4 cm, gynecoid pelvis and completed cervical dilatation to 10 cm.
