Technology plays a major role in the life of an individual. In the present scenario, our society is acceptable to all the changes occurring in the field of communication technology. In today's time adolescents are the most active users of these new innovations making them more technology dependent and leading to various health problems. To assess the pattern of mobile phone use among adolescents. To explore the impact of mobile phone use on adolescents. The exploratory research design was adopted.to collect the data from 398 adolescents of the selected schools of District Solan (H.P.) using the probability stratified cluster sampling technique. Data was collected by Mobile Phone Use Questionnaire and 4-point Likert scale using the self-report technique. Data analysis was done through descriptive and inferential statistics. The study results showed that the majority of adolescents (73.1%) were using mobile phones with internet access. 70.3 % of adolescents there was a moderate impact of mobile phone use, 23.4% had a mild impact and 6.3% had a severe impact. There was a highly significant association of education, gender, father's education, and father's and mother's occupation; a number of siblings with the impact of mobile phone use at p >0.01 level of significance. There was a strong positive correlation of the impact of the mobile phone use with the academic performance, physical, psychological, social wellbeing and the financial state of adolescents at p> 0.01 level of significance. The results of the present study reveal that the negative impact of mobile phone use among adolescents is high so there is a need to put more emphasis on this area and possible strategies should be planned out in order to reduce this harmful effect of technology on youth.
Effects of mobile phone use on academic performance of college going young adults in India
Mobile phones have become the most popular way to communicate with other individuals. While cell phones have become less of a status symbol and more of a fashion statement, they have created an unspoken social dependency. Adolescents and young adults are more likely to engage in SMS messing, making phone calls, accessing the internet from their phone or playing a mobile driven game. Once pervaded by boredom, teenagers resort to instant connection, to someone, somewhere. Sensation seeking behavior has also linked adolescents and young adults to have the desire to take risks with relationships, rules and roles. Individuals seek out entertainment and avoid boredom at all times be it appropriate or inappropriate. Cell phones are used for entertainment, information and social connectivity. It has been demonstrated that individuals with low self – esteem use cell phones to form and maintain social relationships. They form an attachment with cell phone which molded their mind that they cannot function without their cell phone on a day-today basis. In this context, the study attempts to examine the extent of use of mobile phone and its influence on the academic performance of the students. A face to face survey using structured questionnaire was the method used to elicit the opinions of students between the age group of 18-25 years in three cities covering all the three regions the State of Andhra Pradesh in India. The survey was administered among 1200 young adults through two stage random sampling to select the colleges and respondents from the selected colleges, with 400 from each city. In Hyderabad, 201 males and 199 females participated in the survey. In Visakhapatnam, 192 males and 208 females participated. In Tirupati, 220 males and 180 females completed the survey. Two criteria were taken into consideration while choosing the participants for the survey. The participants are college-going and were mobile phone users. Each of the survey responses was entered and analyzed using SPSS software. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS-16) had been used to work out the distribution of samples in terms of percentages for each specified parameter.
The Influence of Mobile Phone Addiction on Academic Performance Among Teenagers

This study aims to identify how addiction to mobile phone usage affects academic performance. Mobile phone addiction has become a deterrent in student learning as teenagers may focus totally on their mobile phones to a point that they become dependent on them. In turn, dependence on mobile phones in their daily lives may affect teen academic performance. This study investigates mobile phone usage among teens and how it impacts their concentration on academic matters. A quantitative approach was undertaken to determine how the level of mobile phone addiction could affect their academic performance. A total of 200 respondents among secondary school students in Shah Alam were selected through purposive sampling. The questionnaire was designed in two sections, which consisted of demographic information and mobile phone usage behaviours that influence academic performance. The results show that the more the students use their mobile phones, the more it will affect their academic performance. In other words, addiction to mobile phones will affect the student's academic performance. Thus, student attention may divert away from their academics if they have high addiction to their mobile phones. As a result of this study, it has been validated that mobile phones have transformed communication and connectivity among members of the public, students in particular, and that these objects have become indispensable in this contemporary era.

The purpose of this exploratory study was to determine the value of smartphone use by students at two Khyber Pakhtunkhwa universities in terms of learning and to examine the relationship between smartphone use between learning activities and students' academic performance. This research used a quantitative approach and a correlational research methodology. Its goal was to describe the specified demographic features and find links between smartphone usage and student demographics.150 questionnaires were randomly given among students at the University of Swat and the University of Malakand, with 135 of them being backed. The correlation analysis revealed that students at the University of Malakand and Swat's use of mobile phones is a significant factor that contributes to their poor academic performance due to a lack of awareness of its positive uses that can help them improve their skills, knowledge, and competencies. The value of R is 0.651, indicating that students' use of cellphones has a significant impact on their academic performance. That is, when students' academic performance is positively influenced by their favourable use of mobile phones, they will do better. Furthermore, the R Square value is 0.429, implying that pupils' academic performance will shift by 42 percent, either positively or negatively.

In order to explore the relationship among mobile phone use,mobile phone addiction and academic performance of primary school students, 187 Chinese primary school students were surveyed on mobile phone use, mobile phone addiction and academic performance. The results showed that 38.7% of primary school students had their own mobile phone. 41.3% of the students with mobile phones asked for mobile phones on their own initiative, and the rest were given a mobile phone by their parents or elders. 12.6% of primary school students use mobile phones for more than one hour a day and 24.5% use mobile phones for more than half an hour a day. From high to low, the top three ways primary school students use their phones are networking, information search and phone calls. About 16% primary school students have the tendency of mobile phone dependence; there is no significant difference of grade, gender and one-childin mobile phone dependence. There was a positive correlation between cell phone use time and cell phone dependence.Pupils' academic performance was at an upper level.There was a significant negative correlation between MPA and academic performance.

The main purpose of the work was to find out the positive negative effects of mobile phone uses on academic performance of the undergraduate students with reference to Kathmandu valley Nepal. Mobile phone technology would enhance the students' status if they use it appropriately in academic activities in the school, college. Students who use mobile phones excessively, their grade point average (GPA) can be low. The study was carried out to find the effects of mobile phone uses on academic performance of undergraduate students. Quantitative comparative study was carried out from January to August 2019 to analyze the effect of mobile phone uses on the academic performance of 281 mobile phone user undergraduate students, studying at four different colleges at Kathmandu valley. Their academic performance based on GPA before and after using mobile phone was analyzed. Simple random sampling technique was used to measure the academic performance of the undergraduate students. Researcher-administered semi-structured questionnaire was formulated and was distributed to the respondents for data collection. The raw data were processed and analyzed by SPSS version 20. Correlation and paired t-test were applied to show the relationship between mobile phone use and academic performance. There were 95 students (33.8%) aged 20 years and 176 respondents (62.6%) were female. GPAs in first and current semester were non-significantly related with gender of the students (p values 0.380 and 0.823 respectively). Age of students was mild positively correlated with the mean GPA in first and current semester (r= 0.146 and 0.375 respectively) and were statistically significant (p values 0.014 and 0.000 respectively).
MOBILE PHONE ADDICTION AMONG HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN CHENNAI CITY

The serious crisis that currently concerns the entire planet extends beyond the daily social, cultural, economic, and other disputes. These were set aside in order to move to a global alert, which refers to the pandemic problem that is affecting every country on the planet. Because confinement compelled individuals all over the world to stay at home, electronic communications became increasingly important. The objective of this study is not to investigate the pandemic epidemic; rather, it is to investigate how students use their cell phones, to see if this has resulted in addiction, and to discover if usage differs between boys and girls. A. Velayudhan and S. Srividya created the Mobile Phone Addiction Scale. The questionnaires used in this study were created in 2012 and revalidated by the investigator in 2021. A total of 75 boys and 75 girls from Chennai's XI standard were included in the study. Three higher secondary schools were chosen using a basic random sampling technique. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, and the 't' test. The major findings of the study were i) There is a significant difference in mobile phone addiction between boys and girls in higher secondary school ii) There will be no significant difference in mobile phone addiction between nuclear family and joint family students of higher secondary school.
THE EFFECT OF MOBILE PHONES ON STUDENTS' ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE
This study was carried out to find out the impact of mobile phones on academic performance of secondary school students of both public and private schools in Ife East Local Government Area, state of Osun. The objectives are to find out the extent to which the use of mobile phones will affect students’ performance in secondary Schools and to compare performance of students using mobile phones in Public and Private Schools. The population consisted of two Schools in the Ife-East Area. Two Hundred students were selected from the two schools as respondents for this study. The instrument used for data collection was a validated structured questionnaire. Data collected were analysed using frequency counts, correlation, cross tabs, descriptive and ANOVA (Analysis of Variance). Major findings showed that Ninety Seven 97% of the secondary school students have access to mobile phones either through their parents, friends or personal. Meanwhile, some supported the fact that, they get their assignment done with the help of their mobile phones. Therefore, their performance is not significantly affected by their access to mobile phones. However, it was revealed that, the performance of the secondary schools students of both private and public has no significant difference (P>0.05). It was then recommended that, students needs to be re -orientated on the need to set their priorities right and be continuously informed on the positive and negative effects of their usage and of the problems deriving from the over-dependency and unregulated use of their mobile phones.
A study on the cell phone usage pattern among the students of Indian institutions

Cell phones are one of the primary assets of communiqué in modern world. According to the COAI annual study, there are greater than 1184 million cellular subscribers as of February 2019. There was a large growth of 55% in cell phone subscribers visible from 2010-17. Kim et al. (2019) confirmed that excessive cell phone use can reason numerous psychopathological and behavioral troubles in adolescents. In their study they discovered that the average amount of time spent turned out to be 180.12 min/day. This study became framed to investigate the use of cell phone among the college students and its effect on their lifestyles, the mental attitude of college students toward cell phones and the cell phone utilization pattern. The present study focuses on the situation of college students from numerous institutions of India and its pros and con; the study observed that the dependence on telephones nowadays has increased a lot in the college students in addition to the fitness and social lifestyles is being affected deeply via way of means of non-stop utilization and dependence.
This study employed survey design in investigating the influence of mobile phone usage on academic performance among secondary school student in Jalingo, Taraba State, Nigeria. The sample for the study was 300 respondents selected from the total population of 6,482 respondents. Stratified sampling technique was employed to select the sample. The Mobile Phone Usage Questionnaire (MPUQ) adapted from Twum (2011), Mathematic Achievement Test (MAT) and English Language Achievement test (ELAT), were the instrument used for this study. Data collected were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, t-test and ANOVA to answer the research questions and hypotheses. The finding of this study, revealed that mobile phone usage significantly influence academic performance among male and female senior secondary school students (t = 6.113, P = 0.02), age difference was not a significant factor in mobile phone usage on academic performance among senior secondary school students (f = 6.431, P = 0.022), parent's occupation was not a significant factor in mobile phone usage on academic performance among senior secondary school students (f = 9.005, p= 0.031) and that the frequency of mobile phone usage does not significantly influence academic performance among male and female senior secondary school students (t = 8.131, p = 0.02). It was recommended that, School psychologists, teachers, school administrators, parents and students should be sensitized on the influence of mobile phone usage on academic performance among secondary school students irrespective of gender and age differences.
