Abstract
The use of regional languages, especially the Balinese language has decreased, especially in the family domain. In fact, from the family, especially, children acquire the language. This condition needs to be overcome. Various efforts can be made, one of them through teaching. From kindergarten to grade III elementary school, regional languages need to be used as the language of instruction. In addition, as a second alternative, in the teaching of regional languages themselves, character education needs to be applied. Through one or both of these methods, a new environment will be created for the use of regional languages as a complement or substitute for the use of regional languages in the family domain. This new environment will create input for children and encourage the creation of output from children, both of which are needed for the acquisition of regional languages. It's just that, to make the first attempt, regional languages need to be further developed; Meanwhile, to make a second effort, the focus of teaching local languages needs to be limited, in addition to the need to improve the quality of existing regional language teachers and procure new regional language teachers through formal education
