Innovative Teaching Using Simulations for Biomedical Science Students (original) (raw)
2021
Abstract
University of tomorrow has to meet the challengesof teaching individually, in real time, overcoming boundaries and distances, and even risks of global pandemics. Simulations create opportunities for such teaching and learning. Problem-based learning has been shown to enhance active learning (Jones, 2006; Faisal et al., 2016; Yardley et al., 2012). This year I have used Life Science simulations (https://learningscience.co.uk) for teaching laboratory skills combined with problembased trouble-shooting tasks and additional research papers and online tools. This way I have created online sessions about immuno-detection and chromatography methods
