Studying of Potential Anxiolytic Activity of Angelica Adzharica M. Pimen. Methanolic Extract
EXPERIMENTAL & CLINICAL MEDICINE GEORGIA
Anxiety disorders have become the number one mental health issue in developed countries. The number of people living with anxiety and depressive disorders rose significantly because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Although generally considered as safe and effective, the currently available anxiolytic therapy is responsible for numerous side effects and addiction. Therefore, there is an imperious demand for discovering more efficient and cheaper new groups of pharmaceuticals ("green anxiolytic"). There is a big number of research, studying plants containing coumarins as active compounds, especially those belonging to the Apiaceae family. Laboratory studies already suggest the anti-anxiety activity of various extracts of Angelica Archangelica. Therefore, the aim of our study was to obtain the methanolic extract of Angelica adzharica and evaluate the potential anxiolytic effect based on the zebrafish larvae model. According to our knowledge, this is the first report studying the anxiolytic effect of Angelica adzharica extract based on the zebrafish larvae.
Can Sars COV2 Damage Placenta?
EXPERIMENTAL & CLINICAL MEDICINE GEORGIA
In the current conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, a new challenge has emerged in relation to the health of pregnant women and newborns. The aim of our work was to review the literature regarding placenta status in pregnant women infected with SARS COV2 and to compare the results of our literature analysis with relevant data from other systematic reviews on this issue. We compared the data of 5 scientific papers/results of histo-morphological research of 183 placentas. Our analysis of literature data revealed that SARS COV2 damages the placenta, and these lesions are manifested in the maternal and fetal parts of the placenta, predominantly in the form of vascular disorders. The results of our literature analysis were the same with the data of two other systematic reviews. In one of them, 1008 and in the other 1452 placenta histopathological research results were compared. Based on literature data, SARS COV2 damages the placenta, although reliable pathognomonic markers have not been rigorously identified. According to preliminary data, the presence of multiple microthrombi inside the blood vessels is noteworthy, which should be explained by the damaging effect of SARS COV2 on blood clotting factors. The deepening of scientific research on issues related to the development of microthrombus in the placenta has a principal significance. Some pathognomonic markers may be detected.

Efficient management of renewable energy sources, including water resources in the context of global warming and tightening environmental requirements, is the most important challenge of our time. Territorial and temporal redistribution of river runoff within the catchment area is essential for energy reservoirs. The regulation of the river runoff by the reservoir which ensures the operation of hydroelectric power plants located in the downstream with high energy performance is discussed. In particular, the selection of the operating modes of the Lajanuri reservoir (upper stage) is presented taking into account the efficient operation of the downstream HPPs (Gumati HPP I, Gumati HPP II, Rioni HPP). The calculations were made for the case of daily regulation of Lajanuri reservoir. At the same time, the one-stage (peak regime) and the two-stage (peak and base regimes) regulation types are discussed. The water balance equation was used for calculations. Based on the results of calculat...

The represented article discusses one of the most actual issues of linguistics, namely, the category of reflexivity, also those lexical means by which the features are shown in Georgian. The history of studying the mentioned category in Georgian linguistics as well as in foreign languages, are briefly discussed in the article. Special attention is paid to the newest views of the issue shown in the latest investigations. The main point of our investigation is to study the reflexive pronoun 'tavi' (head = myself, itself, himself...), to show its morphological-syntactic characteristics in the Georgian language, and to find out the specifications of the constructions and their usage. In our investigation, we have underlined the fact that it is necessary to show the difference between the narrow and the broad meaning of reflexivity. In its narrow meaning, reflexivity is characteristic of the pronoun 'tav' (head = 'self') and this pronoun formally represents the direct object but in its broader meaning, it also contains the forms of subjective version which have vowel prefix i-. The forms with the vowel prefixes are also considered reflexive forms, as well as one-valency verbs in which the action does not go on to the object, it does not leave the space of the subject. The reflexive pronoun is derived through grammaticalization of the noun tavi (head) (a similar phenomenon occurs in some other languages as well). The word 'tavi' as a reflexive pronoun ('head' in the meaning of 'self') is also documented in some texts as being used earlier, in the Old and Middle Georgian language forms. According to N. Amiridze, the simple and complex reflexives can be marked out as 1. Reflexive can be said simple when only the Georgian reflexive pronoun 'tavi' is connected to the verb; 2. Reflexive can be complex if the reflexive pronoun is accompanied by a possessive one ('chemi tavi'-myself; 'sheni tavi'-yourself, and so on).
Artistic Research Philosophy and Georgia
Pro Georgia
Artistic research studies the creative process that leads to an artwork. The aim of artistic research is to produce knowledge on the basis of research outcomes and thus to contribute to development of various disciplines of culture. The idea of artistic research is quite new and it is no surprise that the field is still unexplored in Georgia. Though, artistic research has its historical background in the academic field of the country. The authors of the present article were given a unique opportunity to actively participate in the formation of a new research form and to contribute to its development at the international level as their fundamental research “Development of Artistic Research Methodology on the Example of Exploration of the Piano of the 21st Century and its Future Perspectives” was supported by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. Within the project, they carried out the first research in the field of Georgian academic music which was conceived as pur...
