And it highlights the latest related work done on using wavelet transform watermarking over medical images.
Medical Image Security Using Watermarking In Back Propagation Neural Network
In modern world, medical data became more sensitive where the need of privacy became most prominent. In order to provide the privacy and authentication to the medical data which includes the medical records of a patient digital water marking technique is chosen. The aim of the paper is to authenticate the medical data by digital watermarking technique using neural networks. The host data is processed through 4 level DWT then applied to a back propagation neural network where the secret image is embedded along with different noise attacks. The obtained image is processed through IDWT which is either stored or transmitted. At viewer or receiver side the reverse process is done to extract the secret image from the watermarked image. Compared to existing neural network algorithms back propagation algorithm yields better PSNR values. I. INTRODUCTION The widespread use of computer technology and the popularity of electronic managing of medical records have made it possible for digital medical images to be shared across the world for services such as telemedicine, teleradiology, telediagnosis, and teleconsultation. These e-Health services are introducing new practices for the profession as well as for the patients by enabling remote access, transmission, and interpretation of the medical images for diagnosis purposes. Instant diagnosis and understanding of a certain disease as well as cutting down the number of misdiagnosis has had extensive social and economic impact, clearly showing the need for efficient patient information sharing between specialists of different hospitals. In the handling of medical images, the main priority is to secure protection for the patient's documents against any act of tampering by unauthorized persons include include image retention and fraud, privacy, malpractice liability, licensing and credentialing,. Thus, the main concern of the existing electronic medical system is to develop some standard solution to preserve the authenticity and integrity of the content of medical images II. DIGITAL WATERMARKING Digital watermarking is the process of embedding information, or a watermark into a digital multimedia object such that the watermark can be detected or extracted later to make an assertion about the object. Watermarking has proven to be a reliable mean to provide copyright protection and authenticity proof for digital media. The watermarking system consists of two processes a) Embedding b) Extracting The process of inserting the watermark data into host data is called embedding. A secret key is used which is helpful in ensuring more security. The process of retrieving the watermark data from the watermarked data is called detection or extraction
Hybrid Transforms Based Watermarking, Encryption and Compression of Bio-Medical Images
IRJET, 2022
In this paper, we are discussing about the Hybrid transforms-based watermarking, encryption and compression of bio-medical images. The entire system is designed using MATLAB Software with the version of 2021a. Nowadays, Medical information plays an important role in medical diagnosis, transferring of that information should be done in an encrypted manner. Proposed novel Image Watermarking which is based on the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Hessenberg Decomposition (HD) and Singular Value Decomposition (SVD). Inverse Discrete Wavelet Transform (IDWT) used for retrieval of image. In this, watermark is embedded into sub-bands coefficient. Sub-band coefficients are marked by adding a watermark of the same size of the three sub-bands. Comparison of embedding a watermark at vertical (LH), horizontal (HL) and diagonal (HH) details. Here, Compression scheme applied on the watermarked image to reduce size of the data without losing its quality. AES encryption is used for security and proposed methodology analyzed on data sets of MRI of brain images and Retina images. The performance metric is analyzed after dewatermarking with different orders of Daubechies wavelets by using parameters like Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR), Mean Square Error (MSE), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Compression Ratio (CR).
Medical image watermarking based on M-band Wavelet Transform
This paper introduces a new reversible and blind scheme based on the analysis of Multi-band Dual Tree Wavelet domain in medical image watermarking domain.Different from many other watermarking schemes with wavelet transform are used on one side in which the studies have dealt only in the dyadic case, in the other hand, in multi-band only on the classical discrete wavelet (DWT), for this suggested approach: security issues for medical information and technical solution to protect these data in medical information are examined. A solution is proposed, which consist in watermarking image areas that are not relevant for the diagnosis, considering advantages of multi-bands wavelet analysis. Applications of the method were examined for MRI images watermarking, inserting data in different sub-bands with private key provides high security for the embedded data using discrete wavelet and complex wavelet (CWT) domain.Experimental results obtained from several watermarked medical images indicate imperceptibility, in each case; the CWT provides higher capacity than the real DWT and DWT domain, by increasing the number of bands. The system is transparent to the user and allows image integrity control; in addition it provides information on the location of potential alterations and evaluation of image modifications which is of major importance in medico-legal framework. The proposed method generalizes the findings of previous works.
A Watermarking of Medical Image: New Approach Based On" Multi-Layer" Method
In order to contribute to security sharing and transmission of medical images, this paper propose a new approach for Watermarking image based on the techniques of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Discrete Wavelet transform (DWT) and Error Correcting Code (ECC). The motivation of this approach is to improve the quantity of data integration with the conservation of the image visual quality. Therefore, this work permits to the user the capacity to correct the possible alterations if it exists. IRM and Echographic medical image are used to experiment this approach.

Global journal of computer science and technology, 2016
With the growth of technology and continuous rapid improvement in this field, the digital content took an important role in this current era of time. Online transactions keep growing in many parts of the world. As a result it becomes the prime target for hackers and intruders. Consequently security of data has become a critical issue for experts. In this paper a robust algorithm is proposed in watermarking image to secure the digital data. The proposed algorithm is based on SVDDWT with Harr Wavelet Transform (HWT) for embedding and extracting a digital watermark in an image. The experimental result shows that this technique is robust against few attacks like Gaussian, average and JPEG compression.

The last decade has witnessed an explosive use of medical images and Electronics Patient Record (EPR) in the healthcare sector for facilitating the sharing of patient information and exchange between networked hospitals and healthcare centers. To guarantee the security, authenticity and management of medical images and information through storage and distribution, the watermarking techniques are growing to protect the medical healthcare information. This paper presents a technique for embedding the EPR information in the medical image to save storage space and transmission overheads and to guarantee security of the shared data. In this paper a new method for protecting the patient information in which the information is embedded as a watermark in the discrete wavelet packet transform (DWPT) of the medical image using the hospital logo as a reference image. The patient information is coded by an error correcting code (ECC), BCH code, to enhance the robustness of the proposed method. ...

Robust medical image watermarking in frequency domain
International Journal of Electrical and Electronics Research
Protecting patient information in medical image watermarking poses a significant challenge, especially when traditional methods like the Arnold transform prove inadequate in ensuring security. This paper introduces a novel approach within the Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) domain to address this issue effectively. By employing the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), the security and robustness of the system are greatly enhanced through the encryption of both the medical image and patient data. The encrypted medical image undergoes a 2-level DWT process, allowing the concealment of encrypted patient information while maintaining its invisibility. This proposed scheme surpasses others in experimental evaluations, as evidenced by metrics such as PSNR and NC, solidifying its position as a more secure choice for medical image watermarking. The results validate the scheme’s robustness and imperceptibility.
