Green entrepreneurship inclination among the younger generation: An avenue towards a green economy

Sustainable Development, 2019

The current study sought to predict the inclination toward green entrepreneurship among the younger generation. The study employed a deductive approach by collecting cross-sectional data. Bachelor and Master's degree students in business management and entrepreneurship courses comprised the respondents. The study analyzed 284 usable survey questionnaires in its final estimation. The results obtained by employing structural equation modeling (SEM) show the positive and significant impact of sustainability orientation and sustainability education on the green entre-preneurship inclination. In contrast, the nonsignificant effect of self-efficacy on green entrepreneurship inclination is detected among respondents. The study's findings would support the government, policy makers, and university authorities in developing a tailor-made awareness program through building a curriculum that could offer greater inclination toward green and sustainable education. The outcomes may lead to providing a better living place for future generations worldwide.

On the Relation between Green Entrepreneurship Intention and Behavior

Sustainability, 2021

This study investigated the relationship between green entrepreneurship intention (GEI) and green entrepreneurship behavior (GEB). The study explored how university education support and green consumption commitment (GCC) moderate the relationship between green entrepreneurship intention and the GEB of university students in Ghana. The researcher used a quantitative approach. A total of 420 responses from the university campuses in Ghana were acquired through a purposive sampling method. A structural equation model was established with the help of AMOS 18. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to assess the goodness of fit of the hypothesized model, the construct validity was evaluated, and the model had an acceptable fit. The results indicated that GEI positively influenced GEB. High university education support yielded a more substantial effect. This finding supports the notion that UES and GCC moderate the relationship between GEI and GEB. The research was limited to a survey que...

Drivers of sustainable entrepreneurial intentions among university students: an integrated model from a developing world context

International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education, 2021

Purpose The purpose of this study is to integrate and extend two models of entrepreneurial intention to investigate the drivers of sustainable entrepreneurial intention among intermediate undergraduate university students in Nigeria. Specifically, this paper aims to introduce education for sustainable entrepreneurship into the integrated model, thereby fitting the model into the context of sustainable entrepreneurship. Design/methodology/approach Data was gathered with the help of a structured questionnaire from 435 students of a university in Nigeria. The students passed through a special entrepreneurship training in which they were educated on the concept and practice of sustainable entrepreneurship. SmartPLS was used to test the proposed structural model. Findings The findings revealed that education for sustainable entrepreneurship significantly influences all variables of the integrated model, but has nonsignificant direct influence on sustainable entrepreneurial intention. Sus...

Factor Affecting Determinants of the Theory of Reasoned Action on Green Entrepreneurship Intention

Green entrepreneurship is attempting to play a vastly increased role in protecting the environment through sustainable development. This study's main objective is to construct a hypothesis model of green entrepreneurship intention with their three main determinants, "attitude, subjective norm and institutional support" of university graduates, based on the theory of reasoned action. In order to achieve this, a researcher used the structural equation model for the statistical measurement to study the theoretical model based on 513 students of universities from two selected universities in Pakistan. The statistical outcomes revealed that green entrepreneurial intention directly affects attitude, subjective norm and educational support by the educational institute. While Green awareness helps to strengthen the green entrepreneurial = the green entrepreneurial intention. More significantly, creative entrepreneurs with high institutional support, selfattitude and subjective norm are more likely to participate in green recognition. Consequently, this strategy endorses the intention of students towards green entrepreneurship. On the other hand, creative entrepreneurs with low green self-identity are more likely to get involved in green disengagement, which prevents green entrepreneurial intention. Finally, we explore the theoretical and practical consequences of our findings for entrepreneurial and green entrepreneurship practices.

A Relationship between Sustainable Entrepreneurship Education and Entrepreneurial Intentions among Students: A Developing Country's Perspective

PSYCHOLOGY AND EDUCATION (2020) 57(7): 516-524, 2020

This paper aims to empirically examine the causal relationship between sustainable entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial intention amongst undergraduates. The paper investigates how the outcome of an effective entrepreneurial education system-attitude, skills and knowledge affects the intention of university undergraduates to building a career in entrepreneurship. The study was conducted in Enugu state, Nigeria among university undergraduates. The structural model and the hypotheses were tested using partial least square-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) approach in SmartPLS M2.0 software. The current study reveals that all the proposed determinants bear positive relationships with entrepreneurial intention in varying degrees. Also, entrepreneurial knowledge was found to have a direct impact on entrepreneurial attitude. Thus, to reduce dependence on paid employment and reduce the rate of graduate unemployment among youths requires that their attention should be moved towards entrepreneurship by forming the right attitude, acquiring necessary skills and having requisite knowledge about the importance of entrepreneurship in building economies and growing societies.

The influence of sustainability orientation on entrepreneurial intentions — Investigating the role of business experience

Do individuals who are concerned by issues of sustainability also exhibit stronger entrepreneurial intentions? Given that existing imperfections in the market create numerous opportunities for entrepreneurship connected with sustainable development, adding individual sustainability orientation to models of entrepreneurial intention could increase their explanatory power. Based on survey data collected from engineering and business students and alumni of three universities, we provide evidence that entering sustainability orientation into the equation is actually meaningful. However, our findings suggest that the positive impact of sustainability orientation vanishes with business experience. Consequently, we suggest measures to nourish an evidently existing potential for sustainable entrepreneurship.
