This study determines the length distribution, length– weight relationship, age, growth parameters, mortality rate, sex ratios, length at first maturity and reproduction of saddled seabream (Oblada melanura) collected monthly by fishermen around the Northern Aegean Sea between November 2017 and October 2018. The length–weight relationship was calculated as W=0.0091×L 3.11 (R 2=0.95) and positive allometric growth was found. The condition factor and GSI varied between 0.81–1.58 and 0.01–9.61, respectively. The spawning season extended from May to July and peaked in June. Total lengths at 50% maturity were 18.97 cm for males and 18.83 cm for females. Parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth equation were: L∞ =29.91 cm, K =0.27 per year, t 0 =−0.82 year and age varied between 1 and 8. Age, growth and mortality were analysed for the common twobanded seabream, Diplodus vulgaris, collected in the eastern Adriatic (Croatian coast) from commercial fishery catches by ÔtramataÕ fishing (2005-2006) to obtain growth estimation. The oldest female was estimated to be age 11, the oldest male age 10 years. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters estimated by reading scales were: L ¥ = 48.60 cm (SE = 1.101), K = 0.112 (SE = 0.005) and t 0 =)2.366 (SE = 0.060) for all specimens; L ¥ = 51.96 cm (SE = 2.153), K = 0.095 (SE = 0.007) and t 0 =)2.837 (SE = 0.120) for females and L ¥ = 56.25 cm (SE = 2.662), K = 0.084 (SE = 0.067) and t 0 =)2.920 (SE = 0.117) for males. The overall sex ratio was 1.22 : 1 in favour of males. Total mortality, corresponding to the slope of the descending limb of the catch curve, was Z = 0.81 per year for females and Z = 0.85 per year for males. The maximum length, weight, and age information of living things in an ecosystem are necessary for population dynamics and stock assessment studies. Hence, the recording of such data may be beneficial for scientific databases for life history and fisheries science. The common two-banded seabream (Diplodus vulgaris Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, 1817) is a widespread demersal marine fish, which belongs to the Sparidae family and inhabits down to 90 m depth. Because it is a demanded seafood, it has commercial importance and usually available in the fish market almost every month of the year in Turkey. A single specimen of common two-banded seabream with 31.9 cm in total length and 467.00 g in total weight, which was caught off İbrice Bight (Saroz Bay) with handline by a professional fisherman on 12 June 2015, was obtained from a fishmonger. This study aims to present the maximum size record of this species for the Aegean Sea with Turkish waters.
Age estimation and growth pattern of two-banded seabream Diplodus vulgaris in Tunisian south coast

Samples (N=1097) of common two-banded seabream, Diplodus vulgaris, were caught in the Gulf of Gabes (Tunisia) from June 2006 to May 2007. Total length ranged from 7 to 25 cm. The length-weight relationship for all individuals is described by the following parameters: a = 0.0185 and b = 2.9319. Fish were found from 0-7 years of age. The Von Bertalanffy growth parameters for both sexes were: L∞ = 24.14 cm, k = 0.163 and t0 = -2.33 years.

The study deals with the growth pattern, mortality, and reproduction of common sole, Solea solea (Linneaus, 1758), from the Sea of Marmara (Turkey). A total of 580 fish specimens were sampled monthly from October 2017 to September 2018. The total length of all sampled individuals ranged from 11.1 to 29.5 cm, corresponding to ages from 1 to 3 years. The length–weight relationship was expressed as W = 0.022 TL2.6838, where the slope indicated negative allometric growth. Growth parameters were L ∞ = 33.7 cm, k = 0.48, and t 0 = −0.18 for all samples. A seasonally oscillating growth model, indicating the amplitude of oscillations, revealed an important seasonal growth pattern. Total, natural, and fishing mortality rates were calculated as 1.42, 0.47, and 1.01, respectively. White seabream D. sargus (n = 991) were caught along the Eastern Mediterranean between September 2010 and April 2012. Total length ranged from 11 to 38 cm, represented age classes between 1 and 5 years. Total weight ranged from 12 to 840 gm. The scales were used to estimate the age. Age group (I) is dominant in the catch of D. sargus. Growth was supported using the back-calculation method. The growth performance index (Φ) showed a relatively high growth. Length at first maturity (L m) was 21.27 cm corresponding age (t m) 2.68 years. Length at first capture (L c) was 18.1 cm corresponding age (t c) 2.08 years. So we have to increase the length at first capture to the length at first maturity in order to give fishes opportunity to spawn at first time at least.
Age and growth of sharpsnout seabream Diplodus puntazzo (Cetti, 1777) in the Eastern Adriatic Sea

The age and growth parameters of Diplodus puntazzo from the eastern middle Adriatic Sea were studied. Total lengths (TL) of 630 specimens ranging from 13.3 to 46.7 cm were obtained from commercial fishery catches by "tramata" fishing (2004-2005). All specimens sampled were fully mature above 22 cm TL. The male-female ratio for all fish combined was 0.75:1.00, but the ratio changed according to length classes. The mean lengths, as well as the age frequency distributions of males and females were not significantly different. Scales showed clearly the ring pattern common to teleost fishes. The opaque ring was deposited during the summer months. The length-weight relationship showed an isometric growth (b = 3.001; R 2 = 0.988). The parameters of the von Bertalanffy growth equation were: L° = 45.28 cm; K = 0.191 per year; t0 = -0.306 year; R 2 = 0.953. This study revealed that D. puntazzo is a relatively slow growing and long-lived species with a life span in excess of 18 years.

This paper studies age, growth and hatch date distributions of young of the year striped sea bream Lithognathus mormyrus from Canakkale near shores by using a beach seine during September 2006-December 2007. Using otolith microstructure analysis, a total of 416 specimens ranging from 20 to 103 mm L T were aged and found to be between 30 and 307 days old. Average growth rates were estimated to 0.325 mm d 21 . The juvenile instantaneous mortality coefficient was found to be 0.0219, which corresponds to a daily mortality of 2.16%. Annular seabream, Diplodus annularis (Linnaeus, 1758), were caught off the coast of the Gulf of Gabes (Southern Tunisia, Central Mediterranean) between April 2008 and March 2010 by commercial catches. With a total 2066 specimens the fish ranged in size from 7.7 cm to 18.5 cm total length and from 7.5 g to 123.3 g in weight. Changes in biological parameters (weight, length, gonadosomatic index, hepatosomatic index and condition factor) were examined in order to provide information on the spawning period and reproductive cycle in the gulf. Overall sex ratio was 1 : 1.52 in favour of females. The reproductive season extends from March to June, with a spawning activity peak in May. Total length at sexual maturity was 10.5 AE 0.22 cm (males) and 10.6 AE 0.3 cm (females). The results of this study could help to establish a recommended minimum capture size.
