Assessing the effect of the TQM practices on operational performance in HFC Bank

Dama International Journal of Researchers (DIJR), ISSN: 2343-6743, ISI Impact Factor: 1.018 Vol 2, Issue 11, November, 2017, Pages 104 - 116, Available @ www.damaacademia.com , 2017

TQM has been identified as a vital factor sustainable competitive advantage in the currently challenging business environment (Yusof and Aspinwall, 2010). Unfortunately, organisations find it difficult to adopt it as a result of noncompliance with procedures and principles of TQM implementation (Naeem et al., 2008; Reed, Lemak, & Montgomery, 2012). While some firms run TQM as a program which they expert to function and perform the magic by itself, others have used half-hearted approach to it, by using some bits and pieces of the principles. This has accounted to the failure of most organisations to successfully implement this ideology (Oakland, 2010). A preliminary study to establish the extent to which TQM has been adopted in the Ghanaian banking sector reveal that research work on the implementation of TQM in the Ghanaian banking sector is scanty. Most studies on TQM are focused on the manufacturing industry (AI-Mansour, 2007; Ahire, 2012; Adza-Awude, 2012). The few studies that were done in the service sector in Ghana focused on higher education (Samson, & Terziovski, 2013). Moreover, (Kannan & Tan, 2011) established that banks can embrace quality management principles and implement them successfully to be able to delight their customers through efficient quality service. This study therefore seeks to bridge this knowledge gap by assessing factors that affects effective implementation of TQM principles in commercial banks in Ghana.

Diagnostic the innovation potential of Latvia

«Landmark» SIA, 2017

Relative strengths of the innovation system are in Innovation-friendly environment, human resources, and employment impacts. Relative weaknesses are in innovators, attractive research systems, and linkages. Notable structural differences are a larger share of employment in Agriculture & Mining, a smaller share of employment in High and Medium high-tech manufacturing, a larger share of micro enterprises and SMEs in turnover, a smaller share of large enterprises in turnover, a larger share of foreign controlled enterprises, lower GDP per capita, a higher growth rate of GDP, a lower and negative growth rate of population, and lower population density. According to the conducted studies, Latvia's economic development is impossible without implementing radical structural changes in the production and updating of its technologies, using modern advances in scientific and technological progress. It is precisely the application new advances in science and technology that allows for high profit for enterprises and stimulates economic growth of the country. It is possible to determine the possibilities of innovation and economic development of Latvia through the assessment of innovative potential. The country's innovative potential can be judged by the level of development of research and development work, educational institutions, and technical innovations.

The Role of Organizational Excellence and Environmental Regulation and Policy on the Relationship between TQM and Sustainable Performance in Malaysian Food and Beverage Companies

Doctoral Dissertation , 2021

There have been inconsistent findings in the literature concerning the relationships between quality management and sustainable performance. Hence, this research has prompted a further investigation of the effect of other variables that may better explain the nature of these links. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating and moderating effects of organizational excellence and environmental regulation and policy (ERP), respectively, on the relationship between total quality management (TQM) and sustainable performance (SP). Human resources management (HRM), service design (SD), information and analysis (IA), continuous process improvement (CP), benchmarking (BM), management leadership (ML), and quality assurance (QA) as TQM elements considered in this study were mediated and moderated with their respective relationships with sustainable performance. Questionnaires were distributed to 303 Malaysian food and beverage companies. 98 questionnaires were returned and used in the analysis using the PLS-SEM. The results of this study revealed that effective BM, CPI, SD, QA, and IA as TQM elements have a positive and significant effect on sustainable performance on one hand and organizational excellence as a significant mediator of ML, CPI, SD, HRM, and IA to sustainable performance on another hand. In contrast, the results indicated an insignificant moderating effect of environmental regulation and policy on the relationships between TQM practices and sustainable performance. This study supported the premises of the contingency and the institutional theory by reaffirming the importance of excellence for any successful strategic implementation in enhancing sustainable performance through the implementation of quality practices. The developed framework of this study can be employed by policy and decision-makers. Managers in the industry should consider the importance of this model when implementing any practice in the future. For future research, it is recommended that a longitudinal study is carried out to evaluate the impact of TQM, organizational excellence, and ERP on SP.

Digital Transformation Framework - Excellence Of Things (EoT) for Business Excellence

DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION FRAMEWORK: EXCELLENCE OF THINGS (EoT) FOR BUSINESS EXCELLENCE, 2019

The entire digital ecosystem is disrupted due to disruptive innovation. Digital Transformation (DT) is the way of enabling business with innovative technology to either disrupt others in the ecosystem or protect digital firm itself from disruption. Digital firms can either be failure or success based on how they approach DT because DT is now at the heart of the business model of a digital firm. In the 21st century, organizations incline to the implementation of DT which is an exceptional means of achieving business excellence (BE) to achieve outstanding quality. Inspired by IoT’s “of the things” concept, DT based excellence framework, “EoT – Excellence of Things” can be developed that also utilizes frameworks, platforms, services and best practices related to BE for adding value in digital firms. Thus, this study explores a theoretical model of DT based BE. Also, the meaning of EoT for digital firms and the components of DT based BE is explored through an in-depth interview. Delphi method has been applied as a tool for data collection from a panel of experts who are chosen from a different educational and professional background. They are from several industries too. The responses acquired from the open-ended questions are run by Nvivo application. The analysis generated a few ‘drivers’ that influence a digital firm to achieve EoT. Moreover, based on EoT framework discussed in this thesis, there are three enablers such as Corporate of Things (CoT), Lean of Things (LoT) and Data of Things (DoT). As per the participants’ responses, the significant aspects of EoT that have to be taken care off during implementation of EoT to add value to a digital firm are supportive Organizational Culture (38%), Process Driven (23%), Strong Leadership (14%), Employee Motivation (8%), Quality Management (6%) and Excepting Digital Transformation (6%). However, other factors such as Management Commitment (2%) and Transparency (3%) are also considered as aspects of EoT implementation. Finally, the relationship of drivers, integration of three enablers is discussed elaborately. The findings have implications in four principles of EoT framework. Lastly, an EoT Reference Model (ERM) has been generated from the analysis. Other implications have been discussed too.
