Factors Influencing the Effectiveness of Inventory Management.pdf
Effectiveness of inventory management is a vital part in the manufacturing organization to be more competitive. The previous studies have indicated that there are several factors influencing the effectiveness of inventory management in the organization but there is lack of researchers who carried out the research in the manufacturing small medium enterprise in Johor. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to identify the problem of inventory management faced by the manufacturing small medium enterprise and also to determine the factors that will influence the effectiveness of inventory management. In completing this research, 80 employees were selected randomly from the manufacturing small medium enterprise in Batu Pahat, Johor and they were requested to complete questionnaires. The result have shown that the problems of inventory management faced by manufacturing organization were underproduction, overproduction, stock out situation, delays in the delivery of raw materials and discrepancy of records. The factors, documentation/store records, planning, knowledge of employees/staff skill have shown to significantly influence the effectiveness of inventory management while the funds have shown slightly significant influence on the inventory management in manufacturing small medium enterprises. This quantitative study is important to the manufacturing organization in Malaysia because it provides the guidelines to the employers of manufacturing small medium enterprises in Batu Pahat, Johor.

Inventory management is crucial in organisations, including the Ghana Health Service. This study was carried out to assess the effects of inventory management practices on the healthcare delivery and operational performance of Sunyani Regional Hospital. A descriptive survey research design was used. Fifty respondents were randomly selected from the procurement, pharmacy, store, records, finance, and administration departments. A structured questionnaire was used to collect data for the study. Data analysis was based on frequencies and percentages via the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software and Excel. The study revealed that the hospital uses suppliers to manage inventory for the hospital (mean = 4.34; SD = 1.10), the hospital has computerised all inventory management systems (mean = 4.30; SD = 1.07), and there is good communication between the hospital and its suppliers (mean = 4.01; SD = 1.05). Moreover, the study revealed that inventory management practices contribute greatly to the healthcare service delivery of Sunyani Regional Hospital (mean = 4.26; SD = 1.09) and help in inventory planning and scheduling in Sunyani Regional Hospital (mean = 4.14; SD = 1.18) and that improved customer service can be realised with proper inventory management at Sunyani Regional Hospital (mean = 4.10; SD = 1.19). The challenges facing the hospital were delays in drug delivery resulting in inadequate inventories (mean = 4.32; SD = 1.42), inadequate funds for procurement (mean = 4.28: SD = 1.84), bureaucratic processes in procurement (mean = 4.25; SD = 1.80), understocking/overstocking (mean = 4.21; SD = 1.62), and conflicts of interest (mean = 4.13; SD = 1.68). THE EFFECTS OF INVENTORY MANAGEMENT PRACTICES ON OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE
Inventory management remains a significant challenge for county governments in relation to timely provision of high quality service to the public; forums have been organized across counties with the intention to foster an exchange of ideas around various issues including specialty products, new technologies, and reducing supplier risk from supply chain inadequacies and management of inventories. Despite all the efforts by the central government and County governments in Kenya still inadequacies are observed in the operational performance among counties. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of inventory management practices on the operational performance of counties with particular interest of operations in Kisii county, Kenya. The specific objectives included establishing the effects of demand forecasting practice, inventory categorization practice; and Vendor managed inventory (VMI) practice on the operational performance of Kisii county, Kenya. The study established that supply dependability affect operational performance to a moderate extent 44.7%, effects of inventory categorization in terms of inventory for customer service is rated as the most influential on operational performance and free flow of order fulfilment of supplies, reduced inventories and timely replenishment of inventory to user departments influenced operational performance. The study recommends that procurement and supplies teams in the county should monitor demand forecasting of inventory for efficient operational performance and service delivery to the general public.
Factors Influencing Inventory Management in Public Sector: A Case Study of Kajiado County Hospital

The various factors investigated were broken into Procurement procedure, lead time, supplier selection and e-procurement. The objectives were to; determine how procurement procedures influence inventory management, to determine how e-procurement influences inventory management at Kajiado County Hospital. The study used thirty percent of the target population consisted of officers from various departments who are directly responsible in inventory management to ensure that the customer demands are effectively and efficiently met. Information was collected from forty five (45) of the targeted one hundred and fifty (150) respondents using structured and semi structured questionnaires. Data was quantitatively analyzed using SPSS version 22 which presented frequency tables, graphs and the necessary measures of variance for effective interpretation. The key findings in the research indicated several challenges in inventory management such as limitation of scope from which suppliers are selected, lack of transparent supplier appraisal process, lack of transparent tender awarding process and pre-qualification of supplier not made public. Delays was another challenge which was caused by the process of initiating a request of supplies to the supplier, non-availability of some pharmaceuticals from the Kenyan market or in the global market, legislation issues also come in to play as these products had to be authorized to be used in Kenyan market hence delays while awaiting approval and other logistical issues. Lack of e-procurement which could have been fast and reduce the delays. The study was of great importance to Kenyan government and donors it assisted in identifying areas of improvement in procurement process of such activities. To researchers the study formed basis for future research.
