The transformation of folklore as oral literature is often used for traditional performances. Its function is to strengthen the resilience of a local culture. This research aims to gain better knowledge about the transition process of traditional theatre performances to increase the awareness of the local community. The method used in this research uses a qualitative approach with an explanatory analytical approach and focuses on a multidisciplinary approach that comes from the theory of several branches of science. The results obtained from this study, namely the oral literature of the archipelago, have an important role in historical knowledge. The use of oral literature in stage performances makes a simple story more complex, one of which is manifested in the performing arts of the Dolalak dance. This study examines the connection between the artistic expression of Isolo and the spatial context of the Sentani Tribe of Putali Village, Papua, Indonesia. The analysis focuses on revealing the mutual influence between the artistic expression of Isolo and the spatial context of the Sentani Tribe of Putali Village and how the artistic elements in Isolo contain important values in the local cultural system. It employs a qualitative case study methodology. Observation of the 2023 Lake Sentani Festival at Khalkote Pier, Papua, interviews with Sentani Tribal cultural experts and local government officials, and visual documentation of performances were used to collect data. It employs Rapoport's concept of Environment Behavior Study (EBS) and Barthes' concept of semiotics. The research findings demonstrate, among other things, that Isolo's artistic expression and the spatial context of Putali Village have a reciprocal relationship. The artistic expression of the Sentani Putali Tribe derives from the symbolization of cultural, social, and environmental factors. In the meantime, Isolo's artistic expression can inspire social change by establishing and enhancing art studios and strengthening internal and external social relations. Second, it demonstrates that Isolo's artistic expression at the Lake Sentani Festival in 2023 reflects the cultural identity of the Sentani Tribe of Putali Village and carries on the tradition of sustainable wild boar hunting. As the cultural identity of the Sentani Tribe, Isolo's artistic expression reflects the cultural values of unity, brotherhood, environmental preservation, and simplicity. These findings can be used to improve awareness of how individuals perceive their local spatial context.
STAGED AUTHENTICITY: LESSONS FROM SAUNG ANKLUNG UDJO, BANDUNG, INDONESIA

This paper attempts to revisit the meanings of authenticity in tourist experiences from the social construct point of view. This paper argues that staged authenticity is a practical solution for tourists who are constrained by rigid itinerary as well as able to give high level of tourist satisfaction and high profits to the locals if it is well planned and managed. This paper then attempts to ascertain the experiences tourists look for when they visit a worldrenowned cultural centre such as Saung Angklung Udjo, Bandung, Indonesia. Observation and informal semi-structured interviews were carried out to understand the factors that contribute to the success of staged authenticity at Saung Angklung Udjo. Findings reveal that tourists in Saung Anklung Udjo came for the laughter, innocent atmosphere and to recall the nostalgic childhood in Indonesia.

Nagari Harau is located in the Harau Valley area; a tourism attraction nicknamed the 'Yosemite of Sumatra.' The concept applied by the Pasa Harau Festival is the empowerment of the community through the festivals with the ultimate goal of contributing to village spatial planning to become a tourist village. This paper unravels the knowledge produced through the Pasa Harau Festival. It explores the method of preparing materials for the activities and the spatial arrangement of the performances in the village area in Nagari Harau. The research adopted a qualitative approach with curation employed as a research technique to gather data. It generated empirical data through involved observations as the curator of the Pasa Harau Festival. They were supported by the data obtained through focus group discussions and personal interviews with selected officials of the Nagari Government and the Nagari Harau community members. The study shows that curating the performance space has become an essential tool for organizing shared spaces within the Nagari Harau, which resembles dramaturgy. This contrasts with and differs from the concept of compiling festival agendas as a plot of experience for the participants. Moreover, this arrangement is strategically valuable as a guide for the developments within the village. It can still preserve culture and develop the tourism industry without destroying the natural beauty and the vernacular settlement, which make up the principal capital of tourism developments in Nagari Harau.

The migrants in Barito Kuala Regency developed the art of dance originating from their area. However, the art performances they show are one of the reinforcements for their social integration with the local community. This paper aims to: (1) describe the reasons for the migrants to develop their performing arts. (2) analyzing the role of performing arts as a medium for social integration of migrants with local communities. This research uses qualitative research methods and has been carried out in Sidomulyo Village and Dandan Jaya Village, Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan Province. 10 Informants were interviewed. This thesis analyzes the process of collaboration with a Javanese traditional performance group in adapting their work to film. The project has both practical and research goals. The practical goal is to collaborate with a traditional performance group from a rural area, and help facilitate their exploration of a new medium and to express themselves through film. The research goal of this project is to record, understand and analyze the process, while laying the groundwork for further collaborations and research in other contexts and with different communities. The Bidayuh people are one of the indigenous communities who often get the highlight from tourists during their stay in Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak. Their performing arts notably, the dance and music are often commercialized and staged to tourists, who would visit the prominent Bidayuh longhouse in Annah Rais village, located at the Padawan District. This paper is based on empirical studies that explores and identifies the significance of homestay programme as one of the rural community-based tourism developments and the role of homestay proprietors to perpetuate and preserve the Bidayuh performing arts. This present study was intended to identify the factors contributing to the ideology of the creation of Tek Tok Dance, and its implications on the tourist agencies and the people living at Ubud Village. To this end, the target of the study is the Tek Tok Dance performed at Ubud Village. The study was conducted at Ubud Village to explore (1) the factors contributing to the creation of Tek Tok Dance; (2) the ideology contributing to such a performance; and (3) its implications on the tourist agencies and the people living at Ubud Village. The study used the qualitative method. The result of the study showed that the factors contributing to the creation of Tek Tok Dance were aesthetics and social economy (tourism). The dance was created as tourism needed it. The main objective was to attain financial benefit, meaning that the ideology which played an important role in its creation was the capitalistic ideology. Its implications included multi dimensions such as socioeconomic and cultural domains.
