BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF DESIDOC JOURNAL OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DURING 2011-2015

DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) has been considered one of the most important journal in the field of Library and Information Science. The present study covers year-wise published papers, special issue, authorship pattern, degree of author collaboration, author productivity, state-wise distribution of authors, country-wise distribution of authors, major contributors, length of papers, cited references, subject-wise published papers in DJLIT during the period of 2011-2015. The study reveals that 310 papers were published in 30 issues of 5 volumes during 2011-2015. 70 (22.58%) papers in great numbers are published in volume no. 32 in 2012, 193 (62.26%) papers are published in special issues, 132 (42.58%) contributed their papers as two-authored and 119 (38.39%) contributed as single author, average author productivity per author is 0.54 during 2011-2015, Delhi state 107 (18.54%) authors are great in number out of 577 authors, 502 (87%) Indian and 75 (13%) foreign authors contributed their papers.

Bibliometric Analysis of papers published during 1992 to 2019 in DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology

The study analyses papers published in DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) using bibliometric techniques for the period of 1992-2019 (28 years) and citations received by these papers until 20th March 2020as reflected by Google Scholar. The study examined the pattern of growth, geographical distribution of the articles; identified the prolific authors & institutions, and their output; and the pattern of citations of the papers and identified most cited authors. The findings indicate that the highest number of articles was published during 2012-2015 followed by 2016-2019. The distribution of output by countries indicates that 39 countries contributed 1,698 articles, including India. Indian authors published the highest percentage (86.1 %) of articles followed by USA and had the highest value of CPP and RCI. Bibliometrics/Scientrometrics are one of the ways to measure the literature explosion. The present study is also intended to identify the growth and authorship pattern of productivity of articles of source journal "DESIDOC Journal of Library & Information Technology". It was observed from the study that the year 2008 was most participating year during the study period 2007 - 2011. The Relative Growth Rate (RGR) was high in terms of literature productivity and Degree Collaboration (DC) was also high in terms authorship pattern i.e., 108 out of 194 (0.556). and many more features were identified.

The present study provides detailed bibliometric investigation of 542 articles published in DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) during the period 2010-2019. The study analyses the various bibliometric parameters such as, chronological distribution of articles and references, geographical distribution, distribution of Intellectual output, and pagination pattern. According to the study the maximum number i.e. 258 (47.60%) articles are double authored, followed by single author 172 (31.73%) articles. The gap between receipt and publication of the articles and highly cited papers are also examined in this study.

DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) is one of the most leading journals of the LIS field and it is published by DESIDOC. It has recently finished very nearly 39 years of its publication. The main objective of this study is to cover various aspects of the journal through Bibliometric analysis. This paper presents a Bibliometric analysis of DJLIT during 1981-2018. During the period of 1981-2018, total 990 full-length articles were published in a particular journal. This study cover various parameters like distribution of full-length articles on yearly basis, category wise classification of the articles, authorship pattern of the articles, degree of author's collaboration, length of articles, the ranking of authors, etc. As a result, the degree of collaboration in the DESIDOC Journal is 0.74, which clearly indicates the dominance of multiple authors in its contributions.

Research Productivity of Journal of Librarianship and Information Science from 1999-2019: A Bibliometric Study

Journal of Librarianship and Information Science (JoLIS) is a peer-reviewed journal that deals with the fields of Library and Information Science and serving since 1969. The journal publishes various forms of data including articles, book reviews, letters, reviews and editorial material, etc. The study aims at highlighting the research productivity of JoLIS. Bibliometric data of JoLIS have been collected through Core Collection and Web of Science. VOSviewer, Biblishiny, and MS Excel spreadsheet were used to analyze the data. This bibliometric study explores the exact figures of publications, types of documents, year-wise distribution of published documents, frequency distribution of specific productivity, top 10 highly cited articles, bibliographic coupling of organizations, document productions from different countries, and the most used author’s keywords. This study presents a comprehensive overview of the content of JoLIS, and a systematic analysis of its research productivity from 1999 to 2019. Moreover, this study provides a methodological framework for the research productivity of this journal in future.

The analysis covers various parameters like growth pattern, content coverage, authorship patterns, subject-wise distribution of articles, etc.

A Comparative Study of Bibliometric Characteristics of the DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology and Annals of Library and Information Studies

The study presents a comparative analysis of citations of articles published in DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) and Annals of Library and Information Studies (ALIS) during 2017 to 2019 and the citations received by these articles during 2017 to 2020(June) using Google Scholar. The study reveals that DJLIT published more papers per issue than ALIS and the papers of DJLIT have received more number of citations than the papers of ALIS. The study also reveals that both impact factor and immediacy index of DJLIT are higher than of ALIS. The study also lists the highly cited papers/authors during 2017-2020 (June) in both the journals.

Bibliometric Assessment of Desidoc Journal of Library and Information Technology

This study presents a bibliometric study of DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology for the period of 7 years (2014-2020). The paper covers the bibliometric analyses of year wise publication of articles, authorship pattern, total number of contributions, geographical distribution, average number of references per article, etc. The result showed that out of 384 articles single author contributed 112 articles while the rest articles were contributed by joint authors. Study reveals that most of the contribution are from India with 319(83.07%) and the rest 65(16.92%) only from foreign sources. Abstract: - DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology (DJLIT) is more than three decades old journal, published in the field of library and information Sciences, on bimonthly basis, by Defense Science Documentation Centre, New Delhi, India. The journal is enjoying wide readership both at national and international level. The present Bibliometric study was carried on 366 scholarly research articles published in ‘DESIDOC Journal of Library and Information Technology, during the period 2003-2012. Present analysis is mostly confined to examine article distribution pattern of the journal articles, authorship pattern, geographical distribution of authors and citation analysis. A maximum of 147 articles contributed in the journal are on two author pattern, followed by 139 articles as single author.
