RFID Based Smart Trolley with Automatic Billing System

Now days purchasing and shopping at big malls is becoming a daily activity in metro cities. We can see huge rush at malls on holidays and weekends. The rush is even more when there are special offers and discount. People purchase different items and put them in trolley. After total purchase one needs to go to billing counter for payments. At the billing counter the cashier prepare the bill using bar code reader which is a time consuming process and results in long queues at billing counters. Our aim is to develop a system that can be used in shopping malls to solve the above mentioned challenge. The system will be placed in all the trolleys. It will consist of a RFID reader. All the products in the mall will be equipped with RFID tags. When a person puts any products in the trolley, its code will be detected and the price of those products will be stored in memory. As we put the products, the costs will get added to total bill. Thus the billing will be done in the trolley itself. Item name and its cost will be displayed on LCD. Also the products name and its cost can be announced using headset. At the billing Counter the total bill data will be transferred to PC by wireless RF modules.

The contemporary day digital generation is primarily based totally on embedded a gadget that's integrating lots of transistors on unmarried silicon chip. The essential of goal of developing generation is to make existence have become easier. Nowadays Shopping mall is an area in which human begins get their each day necessities. In mall for getting variety of object it calls for trolley. Every time patron has to do calculations of these object & want to examine it together along with his price range in pocket. After this procedure, patron has to look forward to billing. So, to keep away from headache like pulling trolley, ready in billing queue we're introducing new idea that is "SMART SHOPPING SYSTEM USING RFID". In this gadget we use RFID tags can be at the product it will likely be scanned and suggests the entire quantity of the products. If they wants to remove an items they can easily remove or adding a new items.

Development of a Smart Scanner Trolley System for Intelligent Billing Solutions using RFID and IoT System

International Journal of Emerging Trends in Engineering Research, 2020

Shopping at hypermarkets, which offer an enormous array of household goods and food, has become a part of everyday life. Customers typically place all intended purchases into a shopping cart or trolley, then queue at a billing counter for each item to be scanned and bagged. This process is often hectic and time-consuming. These problems are often exacerbated during peak times, such as the weekend or holiday periods. Typical wait times may reach 15 to 20 minutes or longer. However, the ubiquity of wireless communications has enabled the development of e-commerce smart products which could simplify this process. The objective of this project is to develop a smart scanner trolley system using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) and an Arduino microcontroller. The user simply scans each item using an RFID reader. After finishing his shopping, the user can pay for his purchases using a loyalty card linked to a debit card. The Smart Trolley terminal will automatically send a receipt via text message using the Internet of Things (IoT). Registered customers are not required to provide personal information other than a scan of their loyalty cards. The aim of this system is to facilitate in-store shopping with a system which is scalable, inexpensive, and durable.

This results in long queues at the billing counters. In this project we depict reasonable and cost-effective Smart Shopping Cart utilizing IoT (Internet of Things) innovations. The smart trolley consists of Raspberry pi, RFID reader and user interface app. When a user put some product in trolley then its code will be detected using RFID reader and cost of a product added to the list. The overall process can be controlled and operated using android application. To achieve this all products in the mall should be equipped with RFID tags and all trolleys should be equipped with a RFID reader. Hence the billing can be done in the trolley itself thereby saving a lot of time to the customers. This system will ensure that the customers will have the best shopping experience.

Design and development of RFID based smart shopping cart using Arduino

International Journal of Electronic Commerce Studies

In the present era of socioeconomic development, technologies have been contributing not only for improving supply chain management, but also to enhance customer facilities and satisfactions. Now a days, shopping centers and city malls are the prime requirement of society, where customers get freedom to see, choose and collect items as per their requirements and convenience. These stores and malls are situated in metropolitan cities and easily approachable, which increases the rush at these places with a high rate, tends to long queue at billing counters. It also needs skilled workers to arrange items in shopping center, also guide about the shopping items to customers as well as at billing counter. The proposed system is a smart shopping cart, comprises RFID reader and on-board buttons as inputs, microcontroller-based Arduino board as data acquisition and control unit, and LCD display is as output unit. The smart cart detects items, then avails option to customer to add new shopping items in bill as well as remove already added items directly from bill. It also sends the final billing information to central server using Wi-Fi module. The developed flexible shopping system provides better informative system along with facility of automatic billing generation and record the information centrally. It also provides better functionality of shopping center, minimize requirement, and working load on shopping center employees.

A Review on Smart Trolley and Billing System

As the technology is developing and seeing new inventions in various fields including machine learning, internet of things and so on, there is an increase in the expectations in the customers point of view. With the fast moving life. Today purchasing various items in malls or supermarkets require a trolley. Product procurement represents a complex process. On each occasion customer has to pull the trolley from rack to rack for collecting items and simultaneously customer has to perform estimated expense computation the consumers absolutely have no time to stand in long queues in order to get their work done. At the end, customer has to wait in queue for billing and payment. To overcome that we have been developed a smart way for shopping. In this paper, we are presenting a smart shopping system using RFID and Raspberry Pi controller. The trolleys in the shopping malls are automatically bill of all the products put into them and the final bill is sent to a web application which can be display on TFT Display which attached to trolley and pay the on trolley to avoid waiting in billing queue while constantly thinking about the budget. The system is also subjected to anti-theft management where the system doesn't let any customer take non-billed items.

In metropolitan cities, we will see an enormous rush at shopping malls on holidays and weekends. This becomes, even more, once there are large offers and discounts. Currently folks purchase a spread of things and place them within the trolley, after buying one ought to approach the counter for billing. By employing a barcode reader the cashier prepares the bill that may be a time overwhelming method. This ends up in long queues at the billing counters. This project presents a plan to build up a framework in shopping centers to beat the above issue. To realize this all merchandise within the mall to be equipped with RFID tags and every one trolley should be equipped with an RFID reader and digital display screen. When one puts any item in the trolley its code will be distinguished naturally, the item name and cost will be shown on the LCD, in this manner the expense gets added to the absolute bill. On the off chance that we wish to expel the item from the trolley, you can remove the item and the measure of that particular item gets deducted from the aggregate sum and a similar data goes to the central billing unit through ZigBee module. Subsequently the billing should be possible in the trolley itself accordingly sparing a ton of time to the clients.
