This article was created to present a concept in applying, understanding, remembering, pronouncing and mastering vocabulary in English. The objective of this paper was how to assess the student's vocabulary mastery by applying board race game as a media to the students at elementary school. Students will be more motivated to do an activity if they are having fun doing it. Because this game is not only liven-up the class, but also provide the applying, understanding, remembering, pronouncing and mastering vocabulary. Thus, it could improve the student's motivation in improving their ability in speaking English.

The aim of this research was to know the increase of students’ vocabulary mastery by using board race game for fifth grade students of Uttayan Suksa Krabi School, Thailand in the academic year 2018/2019. The method used in this research was collaborative classroom action research. The researchers conducted this research from December 2018 until March 2019 in Uttayan Suksa Krabi School, Thailand. In collecting the data, the researchers used observation, test, and documentation. The tests were given in pre-test, post-test 1 and post- test 2. The researchers analyzed the average score of each test to find out the increase of students’ vocabulary mastery after the action was conducted. After the researchers have conducted the action, the students’ vocabulary mastery has increased optimally. THE EFFECT OF GAMES ON VOCABULARY RETENTION

Learning English has become a necessity during this century. Consequently, it is utilized in different institutions in Palestine such as schools, universities, hospitals, etc. Therefore, it is taught in schools by using different methods. Thus, in order to comprehend the language efficiently, it has to be taught in creative and interesting methods and using games inside the classroom in one of these methods. The study aims to figure out the efficiency of using games inside classrooms and to answer the research questions. The study was conducted during the first semester of 2018/2019, in which 20 participants were enrolled. The researchers collected data using pretest; posttest and class observation. The study continued for two months. In that, students were introduced to unfamiliar vocabulary through games. The findings of the research revealed the efficiency of utilizing games in the educational process. Accordingly, games help students to retain unfamiliar vocabulary, to associate new information with their surroundings and to develop their language and communicative skills.
The objective of the research were to find out the difference in vocabulary achievement between students who were taught with the CTL-Based Board Race Game and the Board Race Game, and to investigate students' perception in vocabulary class through the modified CTL-Based Board Race Game and the Board Race Game. The subjects of this research were the student at SMPN 2 Tumijajar. The data were obtained from the pre-test, posttest, and questionnaire. The quantitative approach was used to find out the difference in vocabulary achievement between students who were taught with the modified Board Race Game based on CTL and the Board Race Game. The result showed that the vocabulary achievement of students who were taught with the CTL-Based Board Race Game increases higher than the vocabulary achievement of students who were taught with the Board Race Game. It indicated that CTL-Based Board Race Game was better than Board Race Game to enhance the students' vocabulary achievement.
Board Race Game as an Alternative Strategy in Teaching Vocabulary

Like other components of language in teaching, vocabulary needs special teaching strategy from teacher in order to make the students enrich the number of their vocabulary. This paper aims to discuss board race game as an alternative teaching strategy of vocabulary. Many experts and researchers have conducted studies about this game in teaching vocabulary and the results show significant improvement toward the enrichment of vocabulary after implementing board race game. The board race game has exciting steps in which they can encourage the students to become more active in teaching vocabulary. This game also presents new atmosphere in teaching and learning since it motivates the students to compete one another fairly.

This research is aimed at increasing the mastery of English vocabulary at tenth grade in SMK YPKKP Cijerah Bandung. The technique used is the “Broad Races” game. The data were obtained from tests. The low mastery of English vocabulary at tenth grade SMK YPKPP Cijerah Bandung is caused by two factors : 1) low level of understanding of English vocabulary meaning, and 2) students’ difficulty in pronouncing the words. The method used in this research is classroom action research using two cycles. In each cycle there were five meetings. The total meetings were ten meetings; three meetings were for tests, and seven meetings were for treatments. The test result showed that “Broad Races” game is able to improve students’ vocabulary, and facilitate students in memorizing vocabulary. The students’ mean scores have improved. The research is aimed to investigate whether there is an effect of the Boggle game on vocabulary mastery of seventh-grade students at MTs. Nurul Hikmah. The design used was quasi-experimental method with Nonequivalent control group design. The subject of population in this research is seventh-grade students of MTs Nurul Hikmah. The sample of this research were 60 students, who were classified into 30 students of experimental class and 30 students of controlled class. The aim of this research is to investigate whether the games techniques can improve the students‟ vocabulary in the English learning. This research was conducted the second class of SMK Almamater Telaga by taking 30 students as a sample. The method used is quasi experimental one with research design one group of pre-test and posttest design. The data were collected from a test, notably vocabulary multiple choice test consists of 35 items. Each item has been analyzed by using item analysis in order to take its validity and reliability. The results indicate that the students‟ vocabulary can be expanded by using the Games technique. Learning EFL vocabulary is a difficult task so that teachers try as much as possible to facilitate it for their learners. One of the best strategies that can be used is educational games strategy. The goal of this research is to check the effectiveness of using the educational games strategy in enhancing English vocabulary acquisition and retention at the First stage of basic education pupils. The study adopted the quasi-experimental pre-post test control / experimental group design. The study sample consisted of 40 pupils in sixth elementary grade and was equally divided into two groups: an experimental group and a control one. Students of the experimental group learnt vocabulary through the educational game strategy, while students in the control group received regular instruction. Tools of the study included a pre-post vocabulary achievement test and a text course for grade six named Get Ready 6. The students submitted to a pre-post vocabulary achievement test and the results indicates that there is a statistically significant difference between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in the pre/ post-test of English vocabulary achievement in favor of the experimental group.
USING GAMES TO PROMOTE STUDENTS' VOCABULARY RETENTION

Learning vocabulary was a constant battle of memorizing and forgetting. To help English non-majored sophomores at Tay Do University reviewed their vocabulary effectively, the researcher conducted a study about the effect of using games on students' vocabulary retention. The participants were 86 non-English majored sophomores at Tay Do University. Pretest and posttest were used as the main instruments in this study. The results showed that in general the students' vocabulary stock in two groups was similar through the pretest. During the time applied educational games for the experimental group, they not only got fun and but also recalled more vocabulary. It was illustrated through the posttest in which vocabulary stock of experimental group was improved obviously. This proved that using games to recall students' vocabulary retention was effective.
