The Effects of COVID-19 Pandemic on Anxiety in Secondary School Students

Introduction: COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown period may have serious negative effects on education in secondary schools. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of COVID-19 pandemic on anxiety levels in Nigerian secondary school students. Materials and Method: One hundred thirty-five senior and 152 junior secondary school students were included in the study. Data was collected by using a survey. The GAD-7 was used to assess the anxiety level of the students against the Covid-19 pandemic. The examination anxiety was measured by using STAI. Results: Female students had more examination anxiety compared to male students. The examination anxiety was lower in isolated group than in non-isolated group. Anxiety level among students of different college and universities in India during lock down in connection to the COVID-19 pandemic

Objectives COVID-19 incidence became a pandemic immediately after its origin and spread. Apart from death because of coronavirus infection, the pandemic brought unbearable psychological pressure to all. We assessed the psychological pressure on college and university students in India through cluster sampling. Methods The students responded (n = 209) to an online questionnaire following the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAM-A) with some other basic information. Results According to GAD-7 scoring, we found the respondent students had severe anxiety (1.44%), moderately severe anxiety (14.35%), moderate anxiety (36.36%) and mild anxiety (47.85%). Following HAM-A scoring, anxiety level among the students could be scaled as severe (0.96%), high (4.31%), moderate (13.40%) and mild anxiety (34.93%) level. Age of the students was a confounding factor (p = 0.049, HAM-A) of experiencing anxiety, students <20 years of age were more anxious. We found female students to be more anxious than the males following the HAM-A scoring tool. Academic delays (R 2 = 0.996, p = 0.036) and impact on daily life (R 2 = 0.996, p = 0.117) were positively associated with anxiety symptoms, while social support was marginally correlated (R 2 = 0.726, p = 0.069) with the anxiety level. Conclusions As the study found almost all the students are experiencing anxiety because of the current pandemic situation, continuous observation of psychological health for all is recommended as well as establishing psychological intervention during the preparedness phase.

Anxiety during COVID-19 among School Going Adolescents of Six Private Schools in Kathmandu Valley: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study

Anxiety of High School Students Preparing for University during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Covid-19 are one of the viruses that were widely spreaded in 2019 and are still separate until nowadays. Thailand is one of the countries that are highly infected. The majority of people who are infected with this virus tend to have mild to severe respiratory symptoms. Furthermore, anyone can get sick, and it can lead to death. However, the most common symptoms of this virus are fever, cough, tiredness, and loss of taste or smell, on the other hand, characteristics in a minority of people, such as diarrhea and headaches. Due to the impact of the Covid-19 virus, people have to change their lifestyle to the online form. These changes have impacted mostly on economics and education in particular countries, so this problem also affects anxiety among high school students; who must prepare to apply to the university during the COVID-19 outbreak. In addition, we have collected 151 answers from high school students by surveying in order to know the feelings for entrance to the university during the pandemic situation. We found out that 81.3% of the students are highly affected by covid, and only 0.7% of students are slightly affected. We also found out that 55% of the students are worried about university entrance, and only 2.6% of the students were not worried at all. According to the result, most of the students in Thailand are facing the problem about their education and their entrance for the university which are caused by Covid-19. This may lead to illnesses like depression and anxiety.

This study discusses information about Corona Virus (COVID-19) and students’ anxiety management. The purpose of this study is to give clear information on COVID-19 and to find out how societies manage their anxiety management due to the COVID-19 outbreak. It is library research which was done at Universitas Kristen Indonesia. The finding of this study was that two things need to be done to manage one's anxiety: a) finding and understanding the scientific information about COVID-19 from trusted sources correctly or from those who are responsible in their explanation (government or health institutions), and b) following the safety instructions concerning COVID-19. The author concludes that the way to manage students’ anxiety is by finding and understanding the right information and following the safety instructions concerning COVID-19.

Causes of Anxiety Among Adolescents During the Reopening of Schools Amid Speculations of the New Waves of COVID Pandemic in India: A Cross-Sectional Study

This cross-sectional study was conducted to identify the major causes of anxiety among adolescents after reopening of schools in India. The sample was collected from 243 adolescents. The data was analyzed using stepwise regression analysis in which respondents identified family health, increase in the number of covid cases, proper sanitisation and eating meals in schools, as the major causes for their covid pandemic and school reopening related anxiety. The other factors such as meeting face to face with teachers and peers and catching of covid infection in schools were also seen as significant causes for anxiety in few respondents.

Primary School Students' Learning Anxiety during the COVID-19 Pandemic

This study aims to determine how elementary school students' learning anxiety during the COVID-19 period. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach with observation data collection techniques, interviews, and questionnaires. The data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The subjects in this study were elementary school students, teachers, and the participation of students' parents. Survey-based study on anxiety disorder among Indians due to the covid-19 global pandemic

ackground: The first case of coronavirus in India appeared on 30th January 2020 in Kerala. After the outbreak of coronavirus in India, the Indian government announced a One-day' Janta curfew' on 21st March and a 21-day nationwide lockdown on 23rd March. The lockdown changed people's living conditions and filled them with anxiety and fear. Objective: - The aim of this study is to find the level of anxiety of the Indians Methodology: A personalized questionnaire was designed in the Google forms and distributed among the participants. The questionnaire contains four-part in which a constant letter, socio-demographic details, PHQ-9, GAD-7, and CAS, respectively Results: A total of 758 participants has participated in this online survey. Out of the total valid response, 486 (67.1%) were founded mild to moderate anxiety levels, and males found a higher anxiety level than females. Out of these, 50.3% felt breathing difficulty, and 62.9% o felt difficulty concentrating and losing interest in doing work, and 66.8 % felt the change in sleeping patterns. Conclusion: We found in this study that the anxiety level of those people who watch lots of news and think about the coronavirus is higher than the others. Assessment of Anxiety during COVID-19 Pandemic among General Population of India

Introduction-The coronavirus COVID-19 illness makes a very unpredictable future the main psychological effect is elevated rates of anxiety, because of pandemic and the lockdown. Aim-The aimed of the study was to Assess the level of anxiety during COVID-19 among general population in India. Methodology-A Snowball sampling technique was used to collect the samples from different state and union territory of India. Total 829 participants respond and enrolled themselves in the study. Participants in the study belong to 27 states or union territories of India and majority of them are from Delhi. Result-Most of the Participant in the study was female (54%), graduate (51%), age between 18-28 (60%) and Hindu (89.3%). Half of the participant were having minimal anxiety (57.1%) nearly one fourth of the participant were having Mild anxiety (28.5%) and least number of participants were having Moderate anxiety (11.0%) and Severe anxiety (3.5%).There was no significant association of Anxiety scores with Socio-demographic variable except place of stay, suffering from any health problem and During lockdown period time spent in watching news related to corona (COVID-19) on mobile, laptop, television etc. Conclusion-The study concluded the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) Cause anxiety among the people.
