The study also aims of assessing their preferences among the print and the electronic resources considering their patterns of usage. The present study also tries to find out the relationship between the computer skills possessed by the patrons if any and also to know the impact of electronic information resources on their research. Probability sampling method is used by initiating simple random sampling method for the collection of the primary data. Questionnaire is used as a tool for data collection and the results are displayed after a careful interpretation of the collected data. The findings of the study also reveal the impact of electronic resources on the practice and the research of the patrons. The major findings of the study reveal that over 81% of the patrons used the electronic resources made available by the library for their academic needs, research and practice. The data analysis also reveals that all the postgraduate students of the college are using extensive use of the electronic resources as compared to the faculty members.

International Journal of Advances in Engineering and Management (IJAEM), 2021
Open access journals are scholarly publication that can be freely available on internet to access, to download, to read etc without any barrier. But the level of such awareness and usage by lecturers of tertiary institutions in Yobe State remained a question to be answered. It is the mandate of Libraries to provide access to databases of subscribed journals to such academicians of such institutions. The findings of this studyindicates that, majority of the respondent showed that they are aware of the open access journal. Therefore, the concept of open access journal is known to lecturers of the study area. It was also found that the greater percentage of the respondent frequently uses open access journals and finally, poor internet facilities serve as the major challenges faced in using open access journal. Quantitative research method was adopted in the study with Yobe State owned tertiary institutions as population of the study. Purposeful sampling technique was used to select sample out of the population of the study, while The sample consist of lecturers from the Yobe State University, Damaturu, Mai Idris Alooma Polytechnic, Geidam and College of Education Gashua respectively. Background and objectives: Free (open) access to scientific information has emerged as a new paradigm to resolve existing problems and to improve the scientific communication process. This study was conducted to evaluate the level of familiarity with the open access movement among faculty members of Golestan University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Methods: A pre-made questionnaire was utilized in this analytical survey. Cronbach's α of 0.75 verified the reliability of the questionnaire. The study included 157 faculty members employed via non-probability randomized sampling and the Cochran's sample size formula. Descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Tukey"s test and Pearson correlation were used to analyze the data. Results: Faculty members had little acquaintance with the open access to scientific information. The greatest level of familiarity was with ""open access journals"" (mean score: 2.42), while the lowest level of familiarity was with ""the open access movement"" (mean score: 3.07). Conclusion: The faculty members of the Golestan University of Medical Sciences have relatively moderate level of familiarity (compared to other universities in the country) with the open access movement, but it is still far from ideal. Given the importance of free access to scientific information and its positive impact on the visibility and credibility of scientific products, it is essential to plan and take action to raise awareness and promote implementation of this movement among faculty members.

Background: This study aimed to determine the common scientific information sources used, information retrieval skills, and knowledge of evidence-based dentistry (EBD) among graduating dental students in two dental schools in Iran. Methods: In total, 179 final-year dental students from Mashhad University (71%) and Babol University (29%) participated in this anonymous survey in 2019. A valid self-administered questionnaire has been translated using forward-backward method to assess students' use of information sources for the past six months, their information retrieval skills, and knowledge of EBD. We used chi-square test, t-test, and one way ANOVA for statistical analysis. Results: Most commonly used information sources by the students in the university and at home were: personal lecture notes, fellow dental students, and Compact Dentistry References (CDR) books. Proportion of students with good knowledge of EBD was 53.6%. Dental students who sensed to possess weaker information ...
Factors Influencing Acceptance of Open Access Publishing among Medical Researchers in Iran
libri, 2012
This paper reports the findings from a research project which focused on determining the factors influencing acceptance of open access journals (OAJs) among Iranian medical researchers. Low use of OAJs as a publishing media, especially in developing countries, could be a sign of low acceptance of it. However, it is still not clear what factors influence researchers to publish their scholarly outputs through this channel. This study used a survey design and a questionnaire as the data collection instrument. The sample comprised 367 clinical/basic science academic staff of medical schools at public medical universities in Iran. Results of hierarchical multiple regression indicate that out of the 14 predictors of intention to publish in OAJs, only experience, attitude, facilitating conditions and type of university were significant. Also, results of hi- erarchical multiple regression show that out of 14 pre- dictors of self-reported publishing in OAJs, intention, social influence, attitude, academic rank, facilitating conditions, type of university and familiarity were significant key predictors. This study is significant in that it provided a description of the current sta- tus of OA among Iranian medical researchers. It al- so investigated the acceptance of OAJs among re- searchers based on a theoretical framework derived from the UTAUT model, as well as the inclusion of attitude and anxiety as dimensions influencing acceptance.
