Research PAPER Community-based tourism potential masla gen nakar quezon
The author is a full time faculty member of CITHM under the tourism core. Research objectives At the end of the study, the researcher achieves the following objectives: 1. To assess the capacity of the community to handle changes related to tourism. 2. To identify, classify and document potential tourist destinations. 3. To develop potential and existing skills of the community that may help propel community-based tourism. 4. To identify the level of community participation. Conceptual Framework The study will identify the different community-based tourism potential in Sitio Masla, General Nakar, Quezon. This will achieve though the use of key informant interview, focus group discussion, field notes and observation and secondary data gathering. The expected output include list of tourist attractions and possible activities, identification of skills and capabilities of the community and the level of community participation of the community in general. Importance of the study Community participation is a very critical component of any community-based tourism project. The success depends on how well the host community will accept the entry of development in their community. They should be treated as community partners and not only as service providers: Indigenous Peoples of Gen. Nakar that they should realized the importance of their culture and environment as a means to trigger livelihood opportunities; Local Government of Gen. Nakar for them to provide the necessary tourism infrastructure; LPU Community for them to integrate IP culture and knowledge in tourism curriculum thereby increasing the level of awareness of students about the indigenous peoples. Scope and limitations Gen. Nakar, Quezon is part of the Sierra Madre mountain range which is located in the northernmost area of Quezon, facing the Pacific Ocean, Pollilo Strait and Lamon Bay. The study area is Sitio Masla, one of the Dumagat Settlements in Gen. Nakar. The researcher consulted the Dumagat community who are also LPU`s partner in this project. The study was conducted in 2012. Research Methodology The participatory approach in research design, data gathering methods and tools are used in this study. Direct observation is also used in this study. Insights are gathered from the different community leaders and secondary data are used to provide additional information about the study. Research Design The study is descriptive because it seeks to describe the general situation in the area. Descriptive studies are aimed at finding out "what is," so observational and survey methods are frequently used to collect descriptive data (Borg & Gall, 1989). It also involves an in-depth study of the people in the community. The survey method is used using unstructured or focused group interview. Research procedure Prior to the actual research the whole TAYAN 3 team conducted courtesy calls to the mayor of Gen. Nakar, Barangay officials and leaders in the community thus several community meetings are conducted in order to establish rapport. Then researcher followed the procedures outlined below: Conduct several trips to the area to gather field notes through observation and informal interaction with the community people. Set a community meeting in the participants`convenient time and venue. Conduct the focus group discussion/interview (FGD) using guide questions. The responses are recorded and transcribed using acceptable procedure. Conduct actual visits to potential attractions together with the community people. Write down assessments and reflections. Validate findings with key leaders and partners who have lived with the community. Triangulate the data gathered with secondary data from various sources. Consolidate the findings. Write down the findings. Research Participants Key leaders are interviewed to validate the data gathered through observation. During the focus group discussion ten (10) women joined the activity.

Indonesia has a wealth of natural and cultural resources that are very diverse. The beauty of the landscape and the richness of culture in Indonesia are the keys to the development of tourism in Indonesia. In particular, Delang District, Lamandau Regency, Central Kalimantan. Currently the area is not as popular as other areas and has not been touched by many people, the authenticity of its cultural and natural culture is still very well preserved, but in terms of human resources with economic life it is still in the underdeveloped category, because the potential possessed by this region has not been managed properly. Based on the fact that the area has great potential but is hampered due to unresolved problems. Through the anthropological aspect of this research, it seeks to find problems with the aim of developing tourism potential in Delang District. The research method will be carried out with a qualitative descriptive approach.
Perceptions of Tourism by Indigenous
three communities living in and adjacent to Lawachara National Park. The study was conducted in villages populated by three different ethnic groups during February to May 2006. Two out of the three villages received benefits from tourism activities. These activities included the sale of handmade clothes, eco-tour guide services and cultural shows. On the other hand, the community receiving the fewest benefits from tourism, the Khasia, encountered the most problems caused by tourists coming to the park. The study revealed that the local ethnic communities have a general understanding of tourism, but not all of them benefit from tourism activities. The existing institutions (formal and informal) should be more actively involved in order to give more benefits to the local people, particularly those who are negatively affected by it.
CONTRIBUTION OF A TRIBE TO CULTURAL TOURISM
Culture is an important catalyst in regard to tourism development. In the advent of the new millennium, destinations started to embrace culture as an important ingredient in cultural tourism development. The study will be carried out in Eldoret town for a period of one month. The study will seek to establish the extent of the contribution of Maasai culture to cultural tourism. The research will also seek to asses the factors that influence Maasai culture. The researcher will finally seek to determine the challenges of the Maasai culture in relation to cultural tourism.Study results will aid government officials, policy makers, opinion leaders, investors and scholars in the area of culture and cultural tourism development. The research will employ exploratory research design.Simple random sampling techniques will be used to select the respondents for questionnaires. The study will use semi-structured questionnaires to collect data from a sample of 59 respondents.The researcher will use descriptive statistics to analyze the collected data. The data will be presented by the use of tables and graphs.
The commodification of cultural heritage has positive implications to encourage the creativity of cultural artists and aboriginal in creating variants of cultural products as an improvement of prosperity; however, it can also has negative implications, such as a shift or loss of the essence of cultural and religious sounds that is able to lead to conflict, natural destruction, sexual services, and marginalization. The negative implications can be overcome by the participatory of all stakeholders in preserving the sustainability of cultural heritage as touristic. This study focused on three issues. Firstly, the patterns of aboriginals' participatory in preserving cultural heritage as a touritic. Secondly, the level of aboriginals' response to tourists. Thirdly, the aboriginals' complaint in preserving cultural heritage as a touristic. In accordance with these problems, the operational definition of study is the concept of cultural heritage tourism, tourist attraction, aboriginal, and traditional village of Bena. The theoretical review used to analyze the problem is community participatory theory in tourism development by Tosun and Irridex theory of attitude change of aboriginal by Doxey. This qualitative descriptive study is located in traditional village of Bena, Bajawa, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara with the selection of informants who understand the problem. The results of the study indicate that the aboriginals' participatory is spontaneous. The level of aboriginals' response is apathy level. The several complaints in preserving cultural heritage involving a great expense of traditional house maintenance, the processing time of traditional woven and the emergence of modern ja'i dance and music.
TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN DAHICAN: FELT IMPACT ON KA'AGAN COMMUNITIES
Rationale This research is designed to assist the proponents and the Committee on Muslim Affairs of the 15 th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Davao Oriental in assessing the views of the Ka'agan, also known as Kalagan, communities in Dahican, City of Mati with regards to tourism development in the area. The study is to document and to draw out the aspirations and apprehensions of this people group in the coastal communities in Dahican where imminent commercial tourism development is on the rise and expectedly more are in the offing. There is a need for material basis of bringing to the attention of concerned National Government Agencies (NGAs), investors and most especially to the leadership of Local Government Units (LGUs) the grassroots perception of this ethnic minority, the Ka'agan people, towards a culturally sensitive and inclusive approach to tourism development. The research product is an essential information for policy recommendations critical to the crafting of the Tourism Development Plan and the development of appropriate legislative action towards enacting Cultural Preservation Master Plan or ordinances to ensure integration of cultural or ethnic communities as provided for in Republic Act 8371 otherwise known as " The Indigenous People's Rights Act of 1997 " .
The Impact of Opening Up a Traditional Culture to Tourism Development

The Baduy Tribe is a cultured and friendly indigenous people living harmoniously in the middle of natural environment and far from the civilization. This study aims to determine the level of acceptance of opening up the Inner Baduy as a tourism destination and also to identify the impacts on the opening up the Inner Baduy to tourism development. This study use both quantitative and qualitative analysis. The result revealed that there are three elements are used to justify the level of acceptance of the Baduy people; two showed rejections (needs and desires and opinions on opening up the Inner Baduy). This is strengthened by the result of the interviews that tribe rules and regulations do not allow the Inner Baduy to be opened up. Another finding is proven by the disadvantages that impact the host community if the Inner Baduy is opened up to tourism market.
