Zooplankton community is cosmopolitan in nature and they inhabit all freshwater habitats of the world. The zooplankton diversity is one of the most important ecological parameters in water quality and biodiversity assessment because they are strongly affected by environmental conditions and respond quickly to change in water quality. Zooplankton is the intermediate link between phytoplankton and fish. The present study deals with zooplankton analysis and its seasonal variation of Banghara Holi Pokher Ghataho, Dist. Samastipur, Bihar in order to estimate its potency for fish culture during period of Jan. 2017 to Dec. 2017. The zooplankton groups in order of dominance were rotifers, copepods, cladocerans, ostracods and protozoans were found to be dominant over other groups in all seasons and the population of Zooplanktonic groups were found to be generally high during summer and low during rainy season. Each group of zooplankton showed their own maximal and minimal peak.
A quantitative study on the abundance and diversity of zooplankton and its seasonal variation in the water of SahebBandh, Purulia, the only source of drinking water in Purulia town, has been done. Four major groups of zooplanktons, viz. Rotifera, Copepoda, Cladocera and Ostracoda have been identified in the water. Bio- diversity indices have been used to monitor the community composition of the zooplanktons and environmental standards or quality of the environment of Saheb Bandh. Five indices, viz., Shannon-Wiener diversity index (ψ), Index of species richness (μ), Index of dominance (η), Evenness index (ε) and Sorensen’s index of similarity (θS) are employed and estimated in the present investigation. Seasonal variation of these indices has been studied.
Zooplanktons are microscopic organisms that have a criticcal role in aquatic ecosystems. Zooplanktons are indicators of water quality and purity of aquatic ecosystems. The present study was carried out to study the species diversity and their seasonal changes in fresh water lake ecosystem located in semi-arid region of Karnataka. The study was conducted across the seasons of the year 2012. A standard methodology was followed during this study and the samples were collected during various seasons from the studied aquatic ecosystem. We recorded a total of 22 species of zooplanktons during the study period. Phylum Rotifers comprises 15 species, Cladocera 3, Copepoda 3 and Ostrocoda 1 species. A season wise analysis shows the maximum number of species during summer and the minimum number of species in rainy season. Species density was recorded high during summer season as compared to rainy season. The lake is shelter to many migrating bird species, fishes, aquatic plants and other insects. The lake is surrounded by human settlements and is prone to pollution due to several activities viz. washing clothes, bathing animals, dumping domestic waste and other similar activities. In this regard, urgent actions are required to conserve the aquatic biodiversity of this lake.

Diversity of zooplankton has been investigated to account for the density, diversity and seasonal variations of zooplankton in the freshwater habitat of Sapna Dam. Monitoring of zooplankton present in dam water was compared between three seasons of two sessions. The physicochemical properties of water such as temperature, pH, TDS, DO, BOD and COD were determined by selected parameters to obtain an accurate estimate of water quality and found some small fluctuations between the three different seasons from both seasons. Five groups such as Rotifera (8, species), Cladocera (3, species), Copepoda (3, species), Ostracoda (1, species), and Protozoa (3, species) were observed, with a total of 18 different species belonging to the above groups.
Diversity and seasonal variations of zooplankton in Jaisamand lake, Udaipur, India

In the present work, seasonal variations of zooplankton and selected physico-chemical parameters were studied in Jiasamand Lake, a large man-made reservoir in Udaipur (Rajasthan). In the study period, 51 species of zooplankton-17 species of Rotifera, 18 species of Cladocera, 5 species of Ostracoda and 4 species of Copepoda were observed. Among zooplankton, Rotifera was (727 No.l-1) observed as the dominant group throughout the study period and the highest count was recorded in the summer or pre-monsoon period while low incidence was observed in winter season. Zooplankton community is also correlated with certain physico-chemical parameters. The results of this study indicate that the distribution and density of zooplankton species were influenced by prevailing physical and chemical factors of the aquatic environment.

The paper deals with the Zooplankton are seasonal variation in Kosrangi Dam, Arang block, Raipur District Chhattisgarh India. A total - 19 spe. Were found in this dam. An on -6 spe. Belong to Protozoa. An on - 4 spe. Belong to Rotifer,- 5 spe. Belong to Copepoda,-3 spe. Belong to Cladocera and - 1 spe. Belong to Ostracoda. We found that - Ostracoda was dominant group throughout the study period. The study of season wise Zooplankton analysis showed an average abundance to species in winter season.Lower in Manson season and maximum in Summer season, due to different environmental condition of water bodies.

Plankton refers to plants and animals that drift with the ocean currents and fresh river water. they habitants in the open waters of the sea and fresh river water. Zooplankton (from Greek zoon, or animal) are Small protozoans or metazoans (e.g. crustaceans and other animals) that feed on other plankton and telonemia. Some of the eggs and larvae of larger animals, such as fish, crustaceans and annelids, are included in Zooplankton. Physico-chemical parameters are very important factors that play a significant role in river zooplankton diversity and fluctuation. ENVIRONMENTAL INTERACTIONS OF ZOOPLANKTON IN THE CHAMBAL RIVER AT NAGDA (M.P.INDIA
The present study was aimed to examine the intra and interrelationships of zooplankton biodiversity with their environmental factors at Chambal River (23° 4561′ N and Long 75° 4227′ E), Nagda (M.P.India). Zooplankton diversity studies in the upstream and downstream of the river were performed in December 2019. Surface waters from the same locations were collected and analyzed for eight physico-chemical parameters like temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, transparency, phosphate, nitrate, sulphate and chloride following the standard methods of APHA (2012) to assess the level of pollution load in the reservoir. Results revealed that the values of water quality parameters of upstream were slightly exceeded the ideal values but found to well within the standards of BIS and ICMR. However, the values of all water quality parameters of downstream were found to be significantly higher and exceeded the maximum permissible limits of BIS and ICMR. The species composition at the Chambal River during the winter months of 2019 at two study stations includes a total of 1453 individuals. Out of 1453, Rotifera comes out as a top group with 579 (40%) individuals followed by Cladocera 35% (514), Copepoda 22% (324), and Ostracoda 3% (36). The species abundance was more in station 2 with 1020 individuals followed by Station 1, (433). Five biodiversity indices like the number of species, Dominance index (D), Simpson (1-D), Shannon-Wiener diversity index (H), evenness index were calculated by using PAST software (version 326b). The site-wise diversity indices showed significantly lower values in downstream than upstream. The Pearson correlation coefficient matrix analysis describes the positive correlations between various diversity indices like Dominance (D), Simpson (1-D), Shannon-Wiener (H) and evenness with water temperature, pH, DO, chlorides and phosphorus and shown negative correlations with nitrates and sulphate values. The outcome has been argued from the point of view of interactions of zooplankton with water quality parameters. The study confirms that downstream of the Chambal River at Nagda is highly polluted and not suitable for human consumption. The study advocates implementing strict laws and guidelines to protect the water quality status.
