Interrogating the Relevance of the ECOWAS in Global Political Economy (original) (raw)

This study examines the role of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) within the global context of political economy, particularly in light of recent protectionist trends. Although facing numerous challenges, ECOWAS has made significant contributions to regional integration, peace, governance, and the movement of goods and people, thus maintaining its relevance in the international arena. The paper further explores the historical evolution of ECOWAS, its foundational treaties and protocols, and the interplay of regionalism with contemporary global political dynamics.
