A search for direct pair production of supersymmetric top squarks (t 1 ) is presented, assuming thet 1 decays into a top quark and the lightest supersymmetric particle, 0 1 , and that both top quarks decay to purely hadronic final states. A total of 16 (4) events are observed compared to a predicted standard model background of 13:5 þ3:7 À3:6 ð4:4 þ1:7 À1:3 Þ events in two signal regions based on R Ldt ¼ 4:7 fb À1 of pp collision data taken at ffiffi ffi s p ¼ 7 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. An exclusion region in thet 1 versus 0 1 mass plane is evaluated: 370 < mt 1 < 465 GeV is excluded for m0 1 $ 0 GeV while mt 1 ¼ 445 GeV is excluded for m0 1 50 GeV.

A search for resonant diboson production using a data sample corresponding to 4:7 fb À1 of integrated luminosity collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider in pp collisions at ffiffi ffi s p ¼ 7 TeV is presented. The search for a narrow resonance in the WW or WZ mass distribution is conducted in a final state with an electron or a muon, missing transverse momentum, and at least two jets. No significant excess is observed and limits are set using three benchmark models: WW resonance masses below 940 and 710 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level for spin-2 Randall-Sundrum and bulk Randall-Sundrum gravitons, respectively; WZ resonance masses below 950 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level for a spin-1 extended gauge model W 0 boson.

In the past few decades, remarkable agreement has been shown between measurements in particle physics and the predictions of the Standard Model (SM). The top quark sector is one important place to look for deviations from the SM, as the large top quark mass suggests that it may play a special role in electroweak symmetry breaking. The recent top quark forward-backward asymmetry measurements from the Tevatron experiments [1,2] are in marginal agreement with SM expectations. A non-SM explanation could come from a possible top-flavor-violating ...

This paper presents a measurement of the W þ W À production cross section in pp collisions at ffiffi ffi s p ¼ 7 TeV. The leptonic decay channels are analyzed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4:6 fb À1 collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The W þ W À production cross section ðpp ! W þ W À þ XÞ is measured to be 51:9 AE 2:0ðstatÞ AE 3:9ðsystÞ AE 2:0ðlumiÞ pb, compatible with the Standard Model prediction of 44:7 þ2:1 À1:9 pb. A measurement of the normalized fiducial cross section as a function of the leading lepton transverse momentum is also presented. The reconstructed transverse momentum distribution of the leading lepton is used to extract limits on anomalous WWZ and WW couplings.

use a data sample with an integrated luminosity of 4:6 fb À1 collected by the ATLAS detector during the 2011 LHC data-taking period. Events are selected using leptonic decays of the W and Z bosons [Wðe; Þ and Zðe þ e À ; þ À ; " Þ] with the requirement of an associated isolated photon. The data are used to test the electroweak sector of the Standard Model and search for evidence for new phenomena. The measurements are used to probe the anomalous WW, ZZ, and Z triple-gauge-boson couplings and to search for the production of vector resonances decaying to Z and W. No deviations from Standard Model predictions are observed and limits are placed on anomalous triple-gauge-boson couplings and on the production of new vector meson resonances.
