Abstract

ABSTRCT: Kerala is demographically one of the most advanced states in India. Post-independence, State witnessed significant progress in human development; it boasts highest literacy rates and has one of the best health care systems in the country. Alongside growth, there are two parallel trends, a growing graying population and the increasing outward migration of the younger working generation. The study examines the socio economic and health profile of the aged women in the study area and also analyses the consumption pattern of aged women in the study area. The study throws direct attention to the need for income security, reforms of social security measures for the aged and the increased role of government and the society in taking care of the aged women.
