Pathologies of speech and language: contributions of clinical phonetics and linguistics (original) (raw)

1996

Abstract

The International Clinical Phonetics and Linguistics Association (ICPLA) was formed in 1991 to stimulate thought and research in the areas of phonetics and linguistics as applied to the study and treatment of speech and language disorders. The organization also seeks to facilitate interactions and communication between researchers and clinicians. The contents of this volume are intended to further the mission of the organization by presenting international perspectives on pathologies of speech and language. These papers reflect the diversity of thought that characterizes current work in this area, and we hope that this collection will, in turn, stimulate discussion and research. Earlier versions of these papers were presented at the Fourth International Congress of the ICPLA, which took place November 14-16, 1994 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
