[A clinical method of liver fat valuation] Método de uso clínico para avaliação do acúmulo de lipídios no fígado (original) (raw)

Abstract

Fatty liver is an important metabolic disorder that affects overconditioned dairy cows. The objective of the present study was to induce various degrees of fat accumulation in livers of mice, and to develop a method based on the flotation of liver fragments for the estimation of liver fat content. One hundred and ninety five mice were fed different diets with high fat content and treated with dexametasone during fast prior to sacrifice. Livers were classified according to color. Liver samples were collected for hystometry, biochemical analysis, and flotation in saline solutions of different concentrations. Plasma was saved for determination of alanine aminotransferase activity. Only older mice became obese. Liver fragments floated between 6 and 16% NaCl solutions. Liver color correlated with fat content (r=0,7168; p<0,001) as did the flotation test with fat content. (r= -0,7573; p<0,0001). To the analysis hystometry, the flotation liver fragments in saline solutions of concent...
