The aim of this study is to identify the effectiveness of the use of e-textbooks implemented in undergraduate programs at Ajman university from the faculty member’s perspective. The quantitative study applied an analytical descriptive approach on faculty member’s participants (128) from a variety of colleges, in the first academic semester of 2017/2018. The results of the study showed that there is a medium degree of application of e-textbooks and that e-textbooks have an average medium impact on student achievement. The results also showed that the degree of application vary from the perspective of faculty members’ according to gender which was in favor of the female, and according to college variable was in favor of the Business Administration college. In an age of globalization and rapid technological development, the United Arab Emirates is committed to merging technology into all higher education institutions. The purpose of this study is to identify the degree to which e-textbooks are used at Ajman University, from students' perspectives. The study was conducted using a descriptive research model, and a 30-item questionnaire was designed to be used as a data collection tool. After its validity was verified, the questionnaire was administered to 880 participants that were recruited from a variety of colleges during the first academic semester of 2017/2018. SPSS was used to analyze the data. The study findings reveal that students at Ajman University use e-textbooks at their university to a high degree. The analysis results also showed that the degree of use varied according to gender (with females being more likely to use them), college type (with Dentistry College students being most likely), and finally according to year of study (with those in their fifth academic year being most likely). The study recommends further research on the application and use of e-textbooks in higher education institutions.
Benefits and limitations of e-textbook use

E-textbooks are sometimes known as e-books, digital books, or online textbooks. E-textbooks are a growing alternative to printed textbooks at many academic institutions. At a university like the University of WisconsinStout, where every student receives a laptop computer, it is important to examine how e-textbooks are accepted and how e-textbooks may affect the study habits of undergraduate students. The purpose of this research is to identify students’ preference for e-textbooks or analog, printed books, analyze the perception of student benefits and limitations of the medium, and investigate potential impacts of e-textbook use on the academic experience of UW-Stout undergraduate students.

Perceive Usefulness of E-Books for Improved Academic Performance of Undergraduate Students in

Three research questions were formulated which are: what are your reasons for using e-books? What is the perceived usefulness of e-books? What are the challenges of using e-books. The study found out that among the reasons for using e-books is its easier searching ability compared to printed books, it was found out that undergraduate students' perceived e-books to be easy to use and that, power outage, inadequate internet access, slow bandwidth and lack of computer/internet service skills are some of the challenges of using e-books. The study concluded that e-book is gradually generating wide range acceptability among undergraduate student. It was recommended that academic libraries in Nigeria should fully automate their libraries and increase the number of e-book in every aspect of their collections, there should be a continuous training on internet use and information retrieval skill for undergraduate students. This should be done every session throughout their year of study and that the university libraries should provide free and unlimited internet service and access to all undergraduate students.

Education Faculty Students' Views About Use of E-Books

Parallel to technological developments, numerous new tools are now available for people's use. Societies adapt these tools to their professional lives by learning how to use them. In this way, they try to establish more comfortable working environments. Universities giving vocational education are supposed to teach these new technologies to their students to help them become successful in their future profession. Books that serve as the basic sources of information for education faculty students are increasingly being transformed into e-books parallel to these new technologies. In line with these developments, identifying students' approaches and preferences regarding e-book could help determine the needs regarding this type of new technologies. In line with this purpose, the present study aimed at determining the views and preferences of preservice teachers regarding e-book as well as their levels of general knowledge about this technology. The participants of the study were 1179 students attending an education faculty (660 female, 519 male). In the study, qualitative and quantitative methods were used together. The results revealed that the students did not have sufficient knowledge about e-book and that they regarded any digital source on the Internet as e-book. Of all the participating preservice teachers, only 6% of them had sufficient knowledge about ebook.
To what extent can e-books have an impact on academic learning
With the modern generation of technology, many common objects continue to evolve. The printed book is one of these objects, which has been reinvented into an electronic book. According to Vassiliou and Rowley (cited in Ghaebi and Fahimifar, 2011, p. 778), an e-book can be defined as “a digital object with features that can be provided in an electronic environment”. In addition, both Cope and Kalantzis (2001, p. 146); Lai and Chang (2011, p. 1) mention that the initial electronic reader was the Sony Bookman, which appeared in 1992. Since then, the rate of e-book sales has rapidly increased from year to year. According to Polanka (2012, p. 71); Dewan (2012, p. 1), Amazon, which is one of the famous online publishers, emphasizes that more electronic books have been bought than physical books since 2001, and this indicates that web books fill a significant need for readers. This situation is also viewed by Cope and Kalantzis (2001, p. 224); Lai and Chang (2011, p. 2), who clarify that a majority of libraries in many countries in the world have focused on e-book technology. In light of the above, it is no surprise that e-books are being widely discussed for use in academics. This essay will argue that using electronic books can be efficient in academic study. It will also highlight four perspectives against using e-book in academic learning which are depending on technical features, complicating access, associating with leisure reading and restricting reading skills.
The digital book: a tool to help university students succeed?

In this paper, we evaluate the effects of two modalities of use of digital books by university students: discovery of the digital book before the course vs. discovery of it after the course. During the experiment, we recorded the traces of the students’ activity in the digital book. Our study revolves around 4 research questions (Q1, Q2, Q3 & Q4). If students make significant progress during the pedagogical sequence (Q1), it highlights that moment of use e-book does not have an effect on the students’ performances (Q2). However, some student behaviours in the eBook vary depending on when the eBook is used (Q3). A regression analysis between these behaviours (process) and learning gains (performance) shows that consulting additional info/glossary, expansion slideshows and verification of responses would be success factors (Q4).
