Envy is a multifaceted emotion that we encounter both in our social life and at work. While the feeling of envy can be exhibited positively as perseverance, increased motivation and admiration; negatively, it appears as anger, anger, gossip, and withdrawal. Individuals generally feel envy as a negative emotion in the workplace and can engage in various negative behaviors with the driving force of envy. The feeling of envy can be observed in every individual at more or less various levels as a requirement of being human. As a negative emotion, workplace envy harms the individual himself, but it can also negatively affect inter-employee relations and organizational outputs. These evaluations become one of the issues that need to be focused on envy at workplace. In our study, determining the antecedents of envy at workplace as a reflection of negative emotions that may affect inter-employee relations, organizational climate and organizational outputs; It is aimed to reveal the possible consequences of envy at workplace. Within the scope of the research, 20 academicians with various statuses were interviewed with a semi-structured questionnaire. The data obtained from the interviews were coded, categorized and interpreted using the MAXQDA program. Frequency analysis, comparative analysis and relationship analysis were applied using the program. According to the results of the analysis, the factors affecting workplace jealousy are organizational factors (academic success, having a better status, lack of appreciation), socio-environmental factors (family factors, desire to adapt to the environment, emulation for material elements) and individual factors (feeling of inadequacy, personality traits, hereditary factors), it focuses on 3 main themes and sub-categories. Responses to envy (not appreciating, being unresponsive, trying to understand the envied situation) are concentrated in sub-categories. It is seen that the consequences of envy are concentrated in sub-categories (aggressive behavior, social weakening behavior, silence).
