4-Proline Analogues of Neurohypophysial Hormones: Hypothetical Intermediates in Peptide Evolution (original) (raw)
Endocrinology, 1969
Abstract
Evolutionary changes in the amino acids in the third and eighth positions of neurohypophysial hormones could result from single base mutations in the genome. Substitution of 4-serine for 4-glutamine requires an intermediate codon, either for termination or for proline. 4-Proline analogues were synthesized and pharmacologically evaluated as a step toward determining whether they occur naturally.
