Mathematical critical thinking skills is a person's capacity that includes a thought process that aims to obtain a rational thought to do something or believe what will be done. Many factors influence students' mathematical critical thinking skills, including intrapersonal intelligence and learning motivation. This research points to control the stimulate of intrapersonal intelligence and learning motivation on students' mathematical critical thinking skills. This study is quantitative research through an ex-post-facto approach. The population in this research is a class XI high school in the Sidrap district. The quantity of samples in this research was 85 students who were selected by the purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique in this study used an instrument consisting of (1) an intrapersonal intelligence questionnaire, (2) a learning motivation questionnaire, and (3) a mathematical critical thinking ability questionnaire. Analysis of the data used...

The objective of this research is to analyze the twelfth graders' mathematics critical thinking skills using a mathematics learning model to stimulate fundamental critical thinking abilities of science courses in SMA Negeri, Pacitan Regency, East Java Province, Indonesia. This quasi-experimental research design was used in this study with one group posttest only design using multiple substantive posttests. The sample of 141 students from the total population of six public schools involving the twelfth graders of the natural sciences was selected through purposive sampling technique, data were taken through tests of students' critical thinking skills and interviews. The data analysis consists of five stages, namely an analysis of one sample t-test, an analysis of students' grades, an analysis of problem-solving stages, an analysis of critical thinking abilities indicators, and an analysis of mathematics critical thinking abilities indicators. The results showed (1) The re...
The Effect of Mathematical Disposition and Learning Motivation on Problem Solving: An Analysis
Infinity Journal, 2019
This research was motivated by the low problem-solving abilities, mathematical disposition, and learning motivation of junior students. This study aims to find and analyze the influence of mathematical dispositions empirically and learning motivation on problem-solving abilities. Samples were obtained in class VII-2 at SMPN 2 Cimahi as many as 34 students. The study uses quantitative correlational methods. The analysis was done by a regression method. The data collection was given two pieces of study instruments, namely problem-solving test instruments and non-test questionnaires in a set of mathematical dispositions and learning motivation. The data were tested for regression and correlation. The results of data analysis that was a mathematical disposition and learning motivation were significantly influenced by the problem-solving ability of junior students, with the regression equation Y = 1.95 + 0.121X1 + 0.015X2 indicating a positive influence, and the degree of closeness is t...

Education is not only a transfer of knowledge, but is also useful for developing 21st century skills. One of the 21st century skills is critical thinking. The aim of this research is to explore the critical thinking disposition of grade 1 elementary school students in implementing the Mathematical Cognition integrated learning pathway. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that takes into account the results of learning observations. The disposition questionnaire was prepared based on a Likert scale with four answer choices, namely Very Often (SS), Often (SR), Sometimes (KD), Rarely (JR). The instrument used was adapted from the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) which consists of 26 statements with 11 indicators. From the research, students have a sufficient disposition to ask questions clearly and with reason (52%), have an attitude or view that something is part of a complex whole (49%), try various strategies (56%), be open, flexible (51%), dare to take a position (47%), act quickly (47%), and utilize other people's critical thinking (54%). The strong category of indicators is trying to understand well (61%), using trusted sources (61%), being sensitive to other people's feelings (63%), while in the criteria there are few indicators, returning/relevant to the main problem (29%).

The aim of this study is to determine the interaction between learning factors (CORE and conventional) and the initial mathematical skills factor (KAM) to increase mathematical critical thinking skills (KBKM) of students. The method used in this study was quasi-experimental with the non-equivalent group pretest-post design. The data analysis used was two-way ANAVA test. The results of the study are (1) There is no interaction between learning factors with KAM factors (2) the improvement students’ mathematical critical thinking skills in the CORE (connecting, organizing, reflecting, extending). learning group is higher than the conventional learning group for each KAM group (3) In both learning groups, the improvement of the students’ mathematical critical thinking skills in the upper KAM level is higher than the middle and lower KAM level and the improvement in the middle KAM level is higher than the lower KAM level.

The mathematical critical thinking ability is part of a very important mathematical curriculum. The purpose in this study was to analyze the influence of Deep DCT Learning and the motivation to learn from the mathematical critical thinking ability. Research in is a quantitative study with the type of Quasy experimental Design by using post-test only control. Sampling techniques are performed by means of Random Sampling. Data retrieval is done by giving post-Test and poll. The analysis test used is a two way variances analysis (ANAVA). Based on the research results analyzed that: There is an influence between Deep DCT Learning to the mathematical critical thinking ability, there is a high, moderate and low motivation influence on mathematical critical thinking Skills, There is no interaction between Deep DCT Learning and the motivation to learn the ability of critical thinking mathematically.
New Perspective on Students’ Motivation to Learn Mathematics
Agora Psycho-Pragmatica, 2017
School work emphasizes the most the dynamic and complex nature of motivation. Among the conditions and internal mechanisms of teaching and learning mathematics in school, motivation occupies a privileged position due to the influence it has on the behavior of students and teachers during the process. Epistemological and motivational beliefs of the student are important factors in learning mathematics. From the interaction between the student and the teacher, the particularities of the didactic activities, the classroom climate and the mathematical curriculum results student's motivational state. Each of these factors of motivational dynamics can generate obstacles of motivational nature which middle school students face in learning mathematics. Students' perceptions and beliefs of school mathematics influence their level of motivation and thus the school success.

This paper points out the importance of developing critical thinking in the initial teaching of mathematics and highlights some of the problems associated with its realization. In this context, the authors draw attention to the definition of critical thinking and the role of content (tasks) in its development. Starting from the specificity of initial teaching of mathematics and students' age, critical thinking is operationalized through specific skills (formulation of the problem, reformulation of the problem, evaluation, sensitivity to the problems), that become apparent in work with mathematical content. On a sample of 246 students (9.5-10.4 years old), an experimental study (experiment with parallel groups) was organized in order to examine whether, with the selection of appropriate content (tasks), critical thinking in the initial teaching of mathematics can be developed. The results show that, with the appropriate choice of content, students' critical thinking, viewed as a whole, can be developed and that, in that process, we can significantly influence the development of each of its skills (formulation of the problem, reformulation of the problem, evaluation, sensitivity to the problems).

This study's objective was to determine the effects of the problem-based learning model on students enrolled in the mathematics education program at the Islamic University of North Sumatra while they studied to improve their critical thinking skills. This type of quasi-experimental study aims to determine how the participant's parameters are affected by the treatment. "One-group pretest-posttest design" is the name of the study's approach. The research was carried out there with the participation of 35 students from the Mathematics Study Program at the Islamic University of North Sumatra. In this study, data were collected through tests and observations. A tool for data analysis is the t-test. A computer application named SPSS version 25.0 is used to process statistical data. According to the results, using the PBL learning model has an impact on students' mathematical critical thinking skills at the Islamic University of North Sumatra's Mathematics Edu...
