Solid Hydrocarbons from the Neoproterozoic Dolomites of the Taoudeni Basin, Mauritania (original) (raw)
Abstract
The Taoudeni rift Basin of the West African craton contains organic-rich levels Neoproterozoic in age (1100-650 My). In the basin margins the reservoirs are made up by carbonate stromatolitic reefs, nowadays dolomitized. These reservoirs contain bitumen and pyrobitumen. The main objective of this work is to establish relationships between the pyrobitumen present in the inter-crystalline porosity, the dolomitization process and the thermal evolution related to a hydrothermal process.
