The aim of this study was to determine the effect of Moringa oleifera leaf extract supplements, Moringa oleifera leaf extract plus royal jelly and placebo on hemoglobin levels in anemic pregnant women. This research is a randomized controlled double blind design study which was conducted in Polombangkeng Utara District, Takalar Regency for 2 months. The subjects of this study were pregnant women with anemia, the majority of which were 20-35 years old, primigravida parity, income less than UMR, unemployment, higher education, pregnancy distance of more than 2 years with p value> 0.05. Then divided into three groups, namely Moringa capsules plus royal jelly (KRJ) (n = 24), Moringa capsules (KTR) (n = 24) and placeco (PLC) (n = 21). Before and after the intervention, measurements of hemoglobin levels were carried out using the Hemocue tool and interviewing the characteristics of the respondents. The results showed that the average Hb level increased from each group (mean SD): KRJ 10...

Introduction: One health problem affecting a third of women of childbearing age is anemia. This study aims to determine the effect of Moringa leaf extract capsules from preconception to pregnancy on hemoglobin levels of three months postpartum mothers. Method: The study was conducted in the North Polongbangkeng Subdistrict, Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This analytical observational study employs a follow-up study design which is a continuation of the intervention of the administration of Moringa leaf extract capsules + Iron Folic Acid (IFA) and IFA from preconception to pregnancy. The population consisted of 60 three-month postpartum mothers, where 32 were taken as samples by purposive sampling technique. Hemoglobin levels were measured with the Easy touch GCHb tool. Data were analyzed through the chi-square test, Fisher's Exact Test, Repeated measure ANOVA, General linear model, and Independent sample t-test. Results: Characteristics of age, education, employment, ...

Iron deficiency anemia is a cause of concern for pregnant and lactating mother globally. As per NFHS 5 Data, 52.2% pregnant women (Both Urban and Rural) are anemic in India. Iron Deficiency Anemia is associated with maternal and neonates’ mortality, restricted cognition development, low birth weight babies, Premature babies and majorly stunting which affects the nutritional status throughout the vicious cycle. Postpartum anemia is associated with an impaired quality of life, reduced cognitive abilities, emotional instability, and depression and constitutes a significant health problem in women of reproductive age. Multipronged strategies are required to curtail maternal anemia. Food based approach to prevent anemia is the most sustainable strategy. To investigate the impact of moringa oleifera leaves powder capsules on haemoglobin levels of postpartum mothers. The study was conducted in one of the govt. hospitals of Vadodara District of Gujarat, India and was a part of larger study ...
Role Of Moringa Oleifera Leaf Extract In Increasing Hemoglobin Levels In Pregnant Rats With Anemia
Journal of Health Science, 2021
Anemia is one of the epidemic health problems in society and the most common nutritional problem. The Moringa oleifera is rich in excellent dietary content and can complement the body's needs. This study aims to determine Moringa oilefera leaf extract's effectiveness in increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant rats (Ratus norvegicus) with anemia. This paper used a true experimental research design with a pre-post test randomized control group design. This study utilized female rats (Ratus norvegicus), pregnant 8-12 weeks, weighing 200 grams. Experimental procedures were four treatments with three repetitions. Types of treatment were negative control and positive control (administration of Moringa oilefera leaf extract) at a dose of 0.18 g / head, 0.36 g / head, and 0.72 g/head. Analysis using one way ANOVA with an error rate of 0.05. The results showed p<0.005, which means a significant increase in hemoglobin levels in the group given the treatment of moringa leaf extract...

Background: Postpartum anemia among mothers is a health problem in Indonesia. Consuming Moringa Oleifera is assumed as one of the efforts to deal with anemia. However, lack of the study conducted in the working in the working area of health center of Tlogosari Wetan. Objective: This study was conducted to examine the effect of Moringa Oleifera on blood profile in postpartum mothers. Methods: The study was quasy experimental study with pretest posttest control group design. The sample in this study were all postpartum mothers in the working area of the health center of Tlogosari Wetan. It was 30 respondents recruited by purposive sampling, divided into intervention group (15 respondents) who received Moringa leaf capsule and iron tablet; and control group (15 respondents) were given iron tablet. Data were analyzed using Independent t-test.Results: Findings showed a significant difference in the mean of hemoglobin level (Intervention group 11.9467; control group 11.0600), hematocrit (In...
The extracts of Moringa oleifera leaf have been proven to have potent anti oxidant activity, prevent oxidative damage, and afford significant protection against oxidative damage. This study aims to assess the effect of Moringa oleifera leaf extracts supplementation in preventing maternal anemia and low-birth-weight (LBW). This was a double blind, randomized control trial study, pretest-posttest controlled which conducted in Gowa District, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, from September 2012 to December 2013. Subjects in this study are 64 pregnant women. The result of the study discovered significant increase of hemoglobin level in the intervention group (p < 0.05). Moringa Oleifera extract consumption increased the hemoglobin level to 58%. In the control group, the conformity of pregnant women has no significant effect to pregnant women hemoglobin level increase. Moringa Oleifera extract is able to retain ferritin serum level dismount up to 50%. LBW was not found in pregnant women who received Moringa oleifera leaf extract. Further research is needed to confirm the exact dose of Moringa oleifera leaf extracts.

BACKGROUND: The maternal mortality rate (MMR) in Gorontalo Province is still high at 194.7/100,000 live births. Causes of high MMR include bleeding and anemia. AIM: This study aimed to assess the effect of giving Moringa oleifera extract on the hemoglobin concentration of preconception women in the area of the health center Tibawa. METHODS: This research method was a true experiment with a type of randomized controlled double-blind intervention of WUS aged 15–35 years with a sample of 44 people selected using purposive sampling techniques collected by trained personnel, including general data of respondents. RESULTS: The results showed nutritional status and hemoglobin concentration in the treatment group of 12 people (54%) with an increase in Hb 0.1–1.0 g/dl and ten people (45%) with an increase in Hb 1.5–2.0 g/dl after the intervention, whereas in the control group of five people (22%) with an increase in Hb 0.1–1.0 g/dl and 17 people (77%), there was no increase in Hb after the i...

Moringa leaves are nutrient-rich plants that increase hemoglobin (Hb) levels, nutritional intake, and nutritional status. Therefore, this research aims to determine the effect of administering Moringa leaf capsules and Fe to increase hemoglobin levels, body weight, and upper arm circumference (LILA) in second-trimester pregnant women suffering from chronic energy deficiency (KEK). It was carried out for 2 months in the working area of the Banabungi Public Health Center, Buton Regency, Indonesia. The method adopted was an experimental design using a double-blind randomized controlled trial with a pre and post-test as well as a control group pattern. The samples were 34 second-trimester pregnant women suffering from KEK and divided into 2 groups, namely Moringa capsules + Fe (n=17) and Fe (n=17). The data were analyzed using the Chisquare, Paired, and Independent T-Test. The analysis was conducted based on the characteristics of the majority of the samples aged from 20 to 35 years, gr...
