Proceedings of the Annual International Conference Syiah Kuala University Life Sciences Engineering Chapter, 2013
IRR 42 clones belonging to clone a slow starter who has good growth and great girth, but production of the rubber tends to be low when compared to other superior clones. This study aims to obtain stimulant treatment may be able to optimize the production potential clones IRR 42. The research was conducted at the Research Institute for Experimental Sungei White, Rubber Research Center for four months (May-August 2012) in the area of crop planting clones IRR 42 years in 2006 (6 years old plants). The treatments tested include concentration of stimulant (S) consisting of 1.25%, 2.50%, 3.50% and 4.50%, treatment application interval (W) consists of one and two times per month as well as application control treatment (without stimulants). The results showed an average production of 2.50% on stimulant treatment and 4.50% at intervals of twice per month (S2W2 and S4W2) have higher production compared with other treatments. In general, plant physiology is still below the threshold. S2W2 treatment is the best treatment to optimize the potential of the plant because it has high production but showed lower stress than the exploitation S4W2. Further research is needed in a longer period of time to determine plant responses to each treatment

The study was aimed to study latex production and physiology character of some rubber clones in early tapping with the use of Plant Growth Regulators (PGR) and the relationship between production and latex yield characters. The research was conducted in KarangInong Farm, PTP-N I Kso PTP-N III, East Aceh. The research was prepared using two factors Nested Design, namely 5 clone factors and 7 hormone factors. The treatment was repeated twice, but nested in the clone factor, so the number of experimental units was 7 x 5 x 2 = 70. Each experimental unit consists of 4 plants with the total is 280 plants. The results showed that response of each clone and hormone was different for production parameters and latex yield character. Treatment of clone PB 340 and hormone H6 (600 ppm IAA + Kinetin 60 ppm) yield the highest production (g/p/s). The best Interaction of clone and hormone treatment is K4H4 (IRR 107 clone with IAA 500 ppm + Kinetin 60 ppm) as indicated by production parameters (38.04 g/p/s), sucrose content (9.14 mM, phosphoric acid (6.84 mM), Thiol (0.50 mM) and plugging index (16.34%)

As an export commodity, rubber is a major contributor to Indonesia's foreign exchange. Regarding the increase in rubber production, a study on combinations of growth regulators and rubber clones has been carried out based on plant growth and anatomical characteristics during the immature plant period. This research is conducted for eighteen months at the KSO Karang Inong plantations, PTPN-I, and PTPN-III, East Aceh District, using five clones. This study adopts a nested design with three factors: clones, Growth Regulators (GRs), and paclobutrazol. The clones used are PB 260, IRR 104, IRR 112, IRR 39, and 105. The GRs combination factor between IAA and Kinetin consists of seven levels and three levels of paclobutrazol. The results show that the rubber clones PB260 and IRR105 give higher stem girth and plant height than the other clones when applied with GRs at six different levels. The most expansive leaf area is found in clone IRR 104 compared to other clones. In addition, paclobutrazol affects plant height. Applying paclobutrazol can reduce plant height for all clones but increases stem girth, skin thickness, number and diameter of latex vessels, and total chlorophyll at 46 months after treatment.

The surstimulation in exploitation of Hevea brasiliensis clones leads to a high rate of unproductive trees due to tapping panel dryness (TPD), and a drop of yield due to the unknown of their yield potential. This study was conducted during 9 years in the south eastern Côte d'Ivoire on clone GT1 of Hevea brasiliensis to determine the best regime of hormonal stimulation that can allow it to express its rubber production potentialities. The GT 1 is a clone at moderate metabolic activity, little susceptibility to wind breakage and TPD, it's the most widely planted clone in Côte d'Ivoire. The plot was planted at the density of 510 trees/ha (7 m x 2.80 m) according to a "one-tree plot design". Thirteen three trees per treatment were chosen in total randomization. Trees were tapped in S/2 d4 and stimulated with Ethephon 2.5 % at varied frequencies from 0 to 78 per year. The measured parameters included rubber yield, radial vegetative growth, physiological profile and the sensitivity to tapping panel dryness of trees. The results showed that 4 hormonal stimulations per year are sufficient to this clone, to reach its higher yield in tapping in S/2 d4 without causing prejudices on the vegetative growth, physiological profile and sensitivity of tapping panel dryness. This study can be lied down at other region of Côte d'Ivoire for the improvement of the exploitation of clones and optimize yield of plantations.

Abstrak: The objective of the research was to find out the influence of IAA hormone , kinetin and paclobutrazol which were applied to the clones and which treatment that most likely indicated the response for expediting the girth increment and bark thickness so that the trees can be quickly tapped. The experiment was conducted at Kebun Karang Inong East Aceh . The research was organized, based on Nested Design of three factors , namely a clone factor with 5 levels, hormonal factor of IAA + Kinetin with 7 levels, and paclobutrazol factor with 3 levels. The results showed that the growth regulators applied could accelerate the girth increment and other parameters. Hormone applications significantly influenced the parameters of the girth increment and number of chlorophyll. Athough for other parameters the hormone applications did not have a significant effect,. The paclobutrazol application treatment through soil (P1) was the best treatment for all the parameters observed. Clone treat...
Low frequency harvesting (LFH) systems of rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) result in reduction in labour use and cost. However, yield stimulants (viz. Ethephon) are to be applied to enhance the yield in each harvest as a compromise for the yield reduction due to less number of harvesting days. A system of harvesting the tree once in four days (S/2 d4) has recently been introduced and a weekly harvesting system (S/2 d7) is presently under investigation. In S/2 d4 and S/2 d7, the required doze of Ethephon has exactly not known and that would vary with the climatic condition. Therefore, the present study was aimed to identify the suitable concentrations of Ethephon required for S/2 d4 and S/2 d7 systems under two climatic regions, wet and intermediate zones of Sri Lanka. Ethephon was applied in four concentrations (i.e. 2%, 3%, 4% and 5%) and yield performance in each system was evaluated against that of the traditional harvesting systems of S/2 d2 (tapping the tree once in two days). In th...
