Research Article A NOVEL NATURAL PEARMEATION ENHANCER FOR FAMCICLOVIR CREAM (original) (raw)

The aim of present work was development and evaluation of antiviral famciclovir transdermal cream by using hundred times washable cow’s Ghee, as a novel permeation enhancer to increase the permeation rate of famciclovir with combination of oleic acid and terpene as a surfactant and methyl paraben and propyl paraben used as a preservative. To evaluate the formulated cream for drug content, pH, viscosity, spreadiability, extruability, rheology. To compaire and contrast the in-vitro release rate of Famciclovir from propritory cream product i.e., Famvir and prepared topical cream formulation using Franz diffusion cell with hair removed rat abdominal skin. The result of rheological studies indicate that the formulation were Non-Newtonian system because as share rate changes, the formulation shows change in viscocity. As per ICH guideline the stability study showed that cream was stable as emulsion retaining it’s biphasic integrates & globule size did not increase to considerable extent.
