Türkiye’de Çokkültürlülük Örneği Olarak Suriyeliler (original) (raw)

2021, Turkish Studies-Social Sciences

subject of the study is to assess the cultural diversity created for Turkey by the Syrians, who had to come to Turkey because of the Syrian civil war, in sociological context. In other words, what this diversity corresponds to in the context of multiculturalism will be analyzed. It can be clearly seen that the Syrians, whose population is about four and a half million, now lead to new economic, social and cultural realities in Turkey. The issue of cultural diversity, which used to be discussed mostly about Kurds and Alevis before the year 2011, seems to have found a new medium. It can be said that there is a common gound for the citizens of the Republic of Turkey, who have lived in the same territory under the rule of the same state for a thousand of years and who had a common Republic experience. Expecting such discussions to be on the agenda at the moment could be rashness but Turkey can be said to concieve these in the medium and long term. In this context, the aim of the study is to determine this diversity situation and to evaluate Syrian migrants in the context of multiculturalism. The sociological segregation and integration status of the new diversity formed as a result of the study will be examined and some analyses, inferences and suggestions will be made about the new situation that Syrians have created within this framework.
